Great work on Bang Rak, do I guess right that you are from that Khet? I've also invested a lot of work on the article about my hometown Hemer - and as soon as my language skills improve I will create a Thai version of that one as well, even though probably only very few will ever read it :-) If you plan to do more Khet articles, you can tell me in advance, so I will then prepare the maps. BTW: I guess you already discovered them, but just in case - the List of Thailand-related topics and the Wikipedia:Thailand-related topics notice board are probably helpful links for a Thai wikipedian. andy 20:34, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, I live there. For other Khet, I could only do a few that's are near my home where I have better idea of what's around. Pathum Wan, Sathon and Samphanthawong comes to mind. Lerdsuwa 10:13, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Just in case I have now uploaded those maps. But it's also nice if you add more articles on the major landmarks in Bang Rak, especially the Assumption Cathedral would be interesting - I didn't succeed to find enough english material to start that article myself yet. andy

Bangkok building

edit

Thanks for fixing the photo info on Commons. Can you perhaps also identify this building, which the Flickr uploader has, I believe wrongly, called the French Embassy?--Eloquence* 11:31, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

It's definitely not French Embassy (due to the Thai flag on the top). It should be some kind of old government building, need to do some more searching. -- Lerdsuwa 16:31, 3 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Bangkok Yai

edit

There must be a typo in the year number when Bangkok Yai became a King Amphoe, as it is now not chronologically. I also wonder on the wording "king amphoe of amphoe" - are king amphoe partially still dependend on another amphoe? andy 22:01, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, the english DOPA site [1] doesn't mention the fact that King Amphoe are also a partial subordinate of Amphoe. I have added that fact into Amphoe already (can you check if the wording fits). Maybe I now have to create a special template for the King Amphoe infobox to add the reference to the "parent amphoe", including the one in Thai. andy 12:25, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Seal of Khet

edit

I have noticed on the webpage of the khet Dusit and Bang Sue that apparently each Khet have their own seal, similar to the seals of the provinces. Does every Amphoe and Khet have one? As it was already very difficult to find good depictions as well as the description of the meaning for the provincial seals, does it have any publication about this topic in Thai? Or is it same difficult to find as information about the provincial flags? BTW: In case you haven't noticed - all khet articles are already translated to German, and the translator team (de:Benutzer:Hdamm and de:Benutzer:Media lib) need new things to translate :-) I hope you will continue with that good work when you return from your trip. andy 12:13, 16 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hello again, and thanks for the Sukhumvit information. Do you know if the Thai Wikipedia has articles on Mechai Viravaidya, Chuwit Kamolvisit or Pornthip Rojanasunand? I would like to set up interwiki links. Cheers, AxelBoldt 19:42, 28 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Soi

edit

Could I bother you one more time? In soi we say that a soi is normally referred to as "Sukhumvit Soi 4" whereas in [2] they use "Soi Sukhumvit 4". Which one is more common? Also, is the information in the wikitravel article regarding addresses correct, e.g. "25 Soi Sukhumvit 4" is the 25th house in the 4th soi of Sukhumvit Road? Thanks, AxelBoldt 21:09, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for your explanations! Have a nice day. AxelBoldt 16:33, 6 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Bang Rak map

edit

Really great map, much better than those locator maps I usually do. I am looking forward to the later improved versions of the map, as well as maps for the other districts. As you now do the districts of Bangkok systematically - how about setting up a Wikipedia:WikiProject Thai districts like the Wikipedia:WikiProject Thai provinces I made when I started with the provinces long time ago. Sadly that one did not help to attract any helpers at that time, so finally I had to create the province articles alone, but for the Amphoe/Khet there are many more articles to be done, and also many more Thai people active now. Maybe its helpful to create an outline of a complete district article, even though most article will only feature a subset of the topics possible. andy 18:10, 3 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

At least it would serve as a good place to centralize discussion on district article contents. Right now a little bit is at Talk:Amphoe Mueang Samut Prakan, as that was the first one User:Waerth created when he started with creating Amphoe stubs. Even though I doubt a project would attract new users by itself, at least if there are newcomers from Thailand such a project would be helpful to give them ideas or guideline in case they want to create something. And there are already several people who work (or worked) on Amphoe - the two of us, Waerth (who gave up after two provinces :-)), and User:Hdamm and User:Media_lib who translate (and create) Amphoe articles on de:. And also a few on the Thai wikipedia, especially th:User:Potapt (but don't know if he speaks english enough to join in dicussion). But I also have enough things I want to finish before going on vacation, so I wouldn't start that page before mid-February. Another thing I also want to do, but haven't due to lack of time, is to make a Portal:Thailand. BTW: January 22nd would also be possible for me. andy 16:13, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template:Khet status

edit

Just a hint - you don't need to create a template in the template: namespace for that, a subarticle of the Wikiproject page would do the same. Every article with a "/" automagically can also be a template. For example you can simple type {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Thai districts/Bangkok}} and the complete contents of that page will be included. The template namespace should be only used for templates which are used in actual articles, not in meta pages. Thus I'd suggest to move the template to Wikipedia:WikiProject Thai districts/Status template - only drawback is that it's a "little" bit longer to type than at it's preset location. andy 21:09, 15 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bangkok Noi map

edit

I am still impressed with the quality of your district maps. However for the Bangkok Noi map there's a little mistake - while the landmark for the Thonburi Railway Station is correct, the line now terminates on the other side of Thanon Arun Amarin. Also, I think it'd be a good idea to add the location of the district office and the district museum to these maps - in the case of Bangkok Noi both very close to Wat Suwannaram. andy 11:12, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Great. I have now adjusted the SVG slightly, as the museum is at a slightly different location. Also the train station is now named "Bangkok Noi station", not Thonburi anymore. However I haven't updated the PNG... andy 16:52, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ayutthaya

edit

I just visited your country and was throughly impressed with the culture, cuisine and people of Thailand. The thing that stuck me most was that on the road when drivers would make a mistake, like by cutting in front of you, they ask for forgiveness immediately. This is unlike anywhere else in the world.

I see you removed connection of Rama of Hindu mythology with thai kings. When I was in thailand I was told that thai kings hold this connection very dearly. To prove there point the guides took me to various palaces where scenes from Ramayana were depicted in greate detail as painting and drawings. Which article should this information be added to?

I am still not sure. It seems like an amazing co-incidence that one dynasty called there capital Ayutthaya (after Ayodhya of Hindu God Rama) and a later dynasty calls all its kings Rama and there is no connection between the two? Do you find it odd?

Wat Luang

edit

Hi Lerdsuwa. I'm about to translate th:วัดไทย, which is a list of "Wat Luang". I know, that a "Wat Luang" means, this temple has been founded (or renovated?) by a member of the royal family. I know also, that it implies the founder to be "responsible" for this temple. My question is about "1st class", "2nd class" or "3rd class" (ชั้นเอก, ชั้นโท, งชั้นตรี). In my library I cannot find any hint on this, also my Thai friend, who lives nextdoor, doesn't seem to know. Can you explain the difference to me? And what does this "responsible" mean? Is it just giving funds for renovation of buildings or does the donor also support the monks on their daily pindabat? Thanks for your time. --hdamm 16:38, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the answer. I will include it into the translation of this article. --hdamm 11:54, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Loso/Sek Loso

edit

Hi Lerdsuwa. What are your thoughts on merging the the Loso/Sek Loso pages? My thought is that together, the one article would be a stronger article and the page would be a one-stop shop for folks looking for information about Sek Loso or Loso. If they are merged, should be page be named Loso or Sek Loso? Wisekwai 19:01, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sawasdee Khrup. Loso and Sek Loso are merged. In doing so, I came up with a couple of questions: What does his song, "Pantip", refer to? The plaza or the website? What's it about? Do you know of a body or agency that independently certifies album sales in Thailand, or are the sales figures just reported by the record companies? I have Sek Loso: The Collection and have started to get into some of the songs. -Wisekwai 06:42, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pantip refers to the shopping center, where an ex-girlfriend of the lead-singer "Sek" owns a store.

Sales are reported by the record labels themselves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.120.222.189 (talk) 08:14, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Asanee-Wasan

edit

If you want, have a look at a new article on Asanee-Wasan. One thing I am unsure of is exactly when the band started. They had a 20th anniversary concert this year, but it seems they have been around a lot longer than that, especially if their career as The Isn't (one of the all-time great names for a rock band) is counted. So what does the 20th anniversary celebrate? Their signing to Grammy, perhaps? -Wisekwai 20:16, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

British post office in Bangkok

edit

I am removing the following statement of yours from the article: "After the post office were closed, the B overprinted postage stamps remained in use in nearby countries for some time until the stock exhausted." I don't know of any support for this view. Stamps of this kind bearing a postmark later than July 1, 1885 are generally regarded as fakes or forgeries. Eclecticology 21:03, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your addition is intriguing. It certainly establishes the point you were making. Can you add in a scan of that cover? This certainly seems like an irregular usage. Who sent the letter, and to whom was it addressed? Was the postage consistent with contemporary postage rates for Singapore? It is likely that the person sending the letter was previously on staff at the consulate in Bangkok? It's hard to imagine that this was a legitimate usage. The stamp may have been actually used to mail the letter, and it's conceivable that "B" on this stamp was completely ignored by the postal authorities at the time. Eclecticology 20:56, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the scan. It's very interesting. Do you know if there were any markings on the back of the envelope? Name of the sender? Arrival markings? I'm inclined to think that the cover was a fake, or at least produced with a philatelic motivation.

By itself the use of the "B" overprints (which I assume to be legitimate) two and a half years after it stopped being usable in Bangkok can be explained by the use of remainder stocks, but I would also note the following:

  1. The stamps have a pen cancel dated December 5, 1887, but the Singapore circular date stamp is dated two days earlier.
  2. The Singapore c.d.s. only barely touches the right hand "B" stamp. Whether it really touches would probably take close examination of the original.
  3. The double ring Singapore handstamp was never meant to be a cancelling device. It was primarily used on stampless letters. According to Robson Lowe (p.303), in black it was "commonly found on letters to Europe sent "via Marseilles" 1858-66 as letters by this route could not be pre-paid." It was regularly used by the Indian Government Post Office, and stopped being used when Straits Settlements stamps were first issued in 1867. This is 20 years before the cover in question.
  4. Thomas Ridpath was a stamp dealer. He was also associated with the "discovery" of the British Guiana penny magenta, and the inverted centre 24¢ value of the 1869 United States pictorial issue.

The Zurich Asia Auction on Dec. 7, 2004 at http://www.bennettstamps.com/cgi-bin/viewchap.pl?site=2&sale=9&chapter=18&page=1&lang=1 makes reference at lot #687 to the cover that you show. It was sold at auction by Robson Lowe (Zurich) in 1984. I don't know if there were ever any expertizing reports on this item, but I am duly suspicious. Eclecticology 20:00, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the additional info. It at least makes one of the points that I was criticizing a little more plausible. It still doesn't alter my basic theory that the cover was put together in 1887 for the sole purpose of creating a philatelic rarity. As long as the stamps themselves are genuine it is not a forgery. Nevertheless, it can be a fake. It is not unusual for philatelists to create these questionable items for the sake of selling them at a premium. I'll need to look into Ridpath's reputation. Big Ass

edit

Hi, I had a couple of questions over at Talk:Big Ass. Cheers, AxelBoldt 05:51, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for clearing that up. Do you also happen to know about the age of consent in Thailand, and why he could be charge with child sex offenses even though she was 17 years old? AxelBoldt 17:39, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lerdsuwa, I wanted to follow up on AxelBoldt's discussion on the Thai Band Big Ass article (Talk:Big Ass); the section about Khun Ekarat's ("Dax") paternity claims. I've read the cited manager.co.th articles, and pretty clearly BigAss' Dax was arrested for (what I'll call) "underage sex", maybe "having sex with a minor". But, the age of consent in Thailand is 15, 17 for marriage and 18 for 'sex workers'. Can you elaborate on the (apparent) contradition? Citation #2 (the 28 Feb 2006 manager.co.th article) "...ในข้อหาพรากผู้เยาว์ กรณีมีความสัมพันธ์กับหญิงสาวอายุเกิน 15 แต่ไม่ถึง 18 ปี ..." roughly "... sex with a girl age more than 15 but not (til/upto) 18 years...". The facts of the situation aren't so much at question, but the interpretation "...It meant that Dax is a child sex offender if the accusation was true..." is a bit harsh. And, taken without additional reference, would suggest to any reader that sex with someone under 18 is illegal in Thailand, and that the guy had broken the law, which he may not have done. - Thaimoss 22:47, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maybe there's a relatively new law against sex with persons between 15 and 18 and the age-of-consent sites all over the internet haven't been updated yet? AxelBoldt 02:50, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Having sex with someone under 18 is indeed illegal in Thailand. Dax was arrested by police for the accusation. The offender will get jail sentence. Having sex with someone under 15 will get much longer jail time. The exception is marriage and that requires permission from parents. From your quote "พรากผู้เยาว์" means "child sex abuse". -- Lerdsuwa 13:48, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I added that information to Age of consent in Asia#Thailand. Would you have a citation for the law? That would really help, since all the information about Thai age of consent laws on the web seems to be wrong. AxelBoldt 18:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can only find Thai version. The full criminal law is at http://www.kodmhai.com/m2/m2-2/thailaw2-2.html and the relevant section about sexual abuse is at this page: http://www.kodmhai.com/m2/m2-2/m2-309-321.html for Section 317 (age not over 15, with or without consent), 318 (age 15-18 without consent) and 319 (age 15-18 with consent)
  • Section 317 Those who takes child age not over 15 years old from parent or guardian, 3-15 years sentence and 6000-30000 baht fine. This includes those who buys, sells or acquires child obtained via the earlier means. If it's for profit or obscenity, 5-20 years sentence and 10000-40000 baht fine.
  • Section 318 Those who takes child age over 15 but not over 18 years old from parent or guardian without child's consent, 2-10 years sentence and 4000-20000 baht fine. This includes those who buys, sells or acquires child obtained via the earlier means. If it's for profit or obscenity, 3-15 years sentence and 6000-30000 baht fine.
  • Section 319 Those who takes child age over 15 but not over 18 years old from parent or guardian with child's consent for profit or obscenity, 2-10 years sentence and 4000-20000 baht fine. This includes those who buys, sells or acquires child obtained via the earlier means.
-- Lerdsuwa 16:43, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a bunch, that should help a lot. I copied it over to Talk:Ages of consent in Asia. Several people there have mentioned sections 279 and 283. Are they relevant at all? AxelBoldt 18:37, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Lerdsuwa, Thanks for the amplification. Spoke with a Thai colleague on same topic, and the "permission of the parents" component played strongly (although, she admitted not knowing the law fully). Interesting. (More interesting she was already fully aware of this story, from last year, apparently a pretty big story in the entertainment world there). The permission aspect sort of suggested that miserable risk area of a change of mind where "permission" is revoked, or was never given (but perhaps implied), etc. Interesting perspective on the differnces in nations' laws. Thanks mostly for the translation of that phrase, I didn't know it, and didn't want to assume (but was hoping you'd pick up on it, which is why I included it.). - Thaimoss 22:40, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do we know how old the girl was when the alleged sex acts occurred? AxelBoldt 09:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

According to the reference http://www.manager.co.th/Entertainment/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9490000023632 they had sex when she was 16. She was 17 when the story broke out. -- Lerdsuwa 16:46, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I added it to the Big Ass article. On Talk:Ages of consent in Asia someone wrote that criminal law #283 might be applicable, it talks about persons between 15 and 18. I'll try to find out more on the Thai Wikipedia. Cheers, AxelBoldt 18:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think that to be totally correct, the image's copyright must have expired both in Thailand (where the photo was created) and the US (where the Wikipedia servers are). Perhaps fair use is okay, though. Paul_012 (talk) 17:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gustave Rolin-Jaequemyns

edit

Hello, Lerdsuwa. I was stumbling in the German version of Gustave Rolin-Jaequemyns about something. Gustave Rolin-Jaequemyns helped your King Chulalongkorn to reform the Thai judicial system. He earned the royal title Chao Phraya Abhai Raja (เจ้าพระยาอภัยราชา) for this (see also here). In the English version article the title "Chow Phya Abhai Raja" (last paragraph) is translated into English as "vice-roy". This sounds rather — presumptuous to me. Is there a translation of "Abhai Raja" that makes some sense in English? Thank you. --hdamm 15:43, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

As the main author, i'd very much appreciate a thai opinion on this... Kleuske 20:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nana Plaza owner

edit

Hi, in an edit summary you mentioned that Lek Nana owns (or owned?) the Nana Plaza area. Do you happen to know if that is the same Mr. Lek Nana who was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1976 [3] and who is described as a "veteran of the Democratic Party" here? Thanks, AxelBoldt 22:21, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Maybe I can find enough material about him for an article. Somewhere I read that he is Muslim and that he was honorary consul of Iraq at one point, so it's not so clear that he is Indian. AxelBoldt 15:09, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll add his other property holdings to the Lek Nana article. What I find strange is that I can't find any decent mentions of him in the archives of The Nation. AxelBoldt 18:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think I am doing this the right way. I was not familiar with the PDP Context. Maybe you would like to split the IP and PPP up. Computer communications needs the PPP/DHCP to get the IP address - and if you ever to a dial on a modem to the GPRS 'NUMBER' you will get the }}} type text that PPP normally has. Pix of Thailand's Royal Barge Procession

edit

Hi Khun Lerdsuwa. Just today I noticed your pictures of the rehearsal of the Thailand's Royal Barge Procession on 29 October 2007. I find them amazing. Thank you for posting them in Wikipedia. Did you happen to see the "real" procession on 5th November? --hdamm 13:36, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lerdsuwa. Same. I created that article, and while it isn't nearly close to the 'done' state I hope to see it eventually get to (and, bad on me, there is a lot of draft work I have that I just haven't gotten to putting in there), the one thing that it has lacked most were the photos. To my disappointment, in the 5 years I lived in Thailand, and the sailings that took place during that time (some of which I had GREAT seats for), I never got any worthwhile photos. Thanks for including those. - Thaimoss 00:09, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello I voted for keep as well. EN.wikipedia is starting to be a pro western hellhole it seems. If the scriptkiddies cannot find it on google it cannot possibly exist can it? They have probably never heard about books or newspapers. It is a typical example of overdoing it on notability guidelines. Anyway. In the last few weeks I have been photographing Thai Comedygroups, comedians and other artists we meet on our way! I intend to upload them to Commons in the new year. Maybe we can involve Thai wikipedia in writing articles about them so the pictures will be used. Which we can also write in English ;) and Dutch. I have pictures of people like Mum and Theng amongst others. And many lesser known, but still known artists. Waerth (talk) 02:19, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Somebody recently submitted an article titled ดุสิตอเวนิว. It was quickly listed at Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English#ดุสิตอเวนิว, with the language listed as "unknown". I think it's Thai, but am not sure. Could you please check?
Also, if it is Thai, it would be great if you could translate the article into English. Thank you so much. Puchiko (Talk-email) 23:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Changwat Phra Nakhon Nuea, Klang and Tai?

edit

As you have done a lot on the history of the districts of Bangkok - yesterday I stumbled upon a forum post which lists the provinces and districts within the Monthon Krung Thep (see this post in my blog), and to my surprise the provinces Phra Nakhon and Thon Buri are split into 5 separate provinces. In the Royal Gazette I have only found very few announcements mention these provinces, but none about the creation or merge back into the two provinces. And even Google doesn't find much with search terms like จังหวัดธนบุรีเหนือ. Can you help me to find the dates of creation and merge of these provinces, or even better the relevant announcement in the Royal Gazette? andy (talk) 12:12, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

My this announcement explains it? It seems to be the one which introduces Changwat Thonburi Nuea and Tai. But my Thai is not enough to understand what it is really about, whether this was a subdivision of the Changwat or really a separate Changwat? andy (talk) 23:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Seems like I already got the nudge into the right direction in the 2bangkok forum, that these were no real provinces. andy (talk) 16:27, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Album Fahrenheit Degree F.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Album Fahrenheit Degree F.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:13, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Manual of Style for Thailand-related articles (the original discussion regarding which you were involved in) has been in limbo as a historic proposal for quite a while. Discussions are taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Thailand#Updating the Manual of Style in hopes of developing the page into a usable guideline. A major issue being discussed is the naming of articles on Thai royalty, which so far has relied on the status quo, but lacks clear community consensus. District office symbol

edit

As I had a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Thai districts/Bangkok, I noticed that you already added the district symbols as one task to improve the district articles. I like heraldry, but there is so few to find on the symbols for the Thai administrative units (except the provinces maybe), so wonder if you know any good resource on the district office symbols - am I right that only the districts in Bangkok have them, the normal Amphoe use a generic seal symbol. I only know the symbol of Bangkok Noi, but even for that the image I have is not good enough to redraw it in SVG (besides I am not good at drawing either). andy (talk) 08:57, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am only aware of district symbol for Bangkok districts. They appear in websites of district office. I think it is up to the district office whether to decide to design one. So only some district has it, typically the ones in Bangkok. I don't find a good source online for the symbol either. For high quality work, I think the only way is to get a hand of some documents from the district with the seal and scan it at high quality. --Lerdsuwa (talk) 17:33, 11 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
If I am not mistaken, only those entities which are a juristical person are allowed to have an emblem, thus all the local governments (TAO, Thesaban, PAO), the provinces and also the Khet - but the Amphoe are no juristical person. andy (talk) 08:22, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've been working on a small game built around animal quizzes and I wanted to let you know I've used one of your pictures.

I found your picture here: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:Balantiocheilos_melanopterus.JPG

And I attributed the picture like this: Lerdsuwa with this link: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Lerdsuwa and also added a link to the license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en

I hope you're happy with it, please let me know if this is not the case. You can find the game here: http://apps.facebook.com/animalalbum Or through here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/AnimalAlbum/156339584490672

Kind regards, Garfunkel Jansen (talk) 21:02, 1 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

P.S. Thanks for taking the picture and making it available.

Yes, this is fine with me. --Lerdsuwa (talk) 03:26, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I've been very busy and the game is growing and changing a lot. I wanted to make sure things were in order and you were still ok with it. I would also like to add this picture, with license and attribution of course:
http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:Pseudoplatystoma_tigrinum1.jpg
Also, because I want to make sure there's no misunderstanding, you are the original photographer correct? It sometimes happens that another person simply takes a picture from somebody else and uploads it to wikipedia with a license to distribute. That is why I'm asking.
There is more information on the game here, including a short video that tells a little bit about the background:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/238178285/animalalbum
I also have a demo version of the game available so you can see for yourself in what way the pictures are presented:
http://dromedarydreams.com/index/demo/0-8
Please let me know if I have your permission, if the pictures are yours and if you want a different attribution.

Non-free rationale for File:Thai tin satang coins.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Thai tin satang coins.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Invitation to WikiProject Portals

edit

The Portals WikiProject has been rebooted.

You are invited to join, and participate in the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system and all the portals in it.

There are sections on the WikiProject page dedicated to tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too), and areas on the talk page for discussing the improvement and automation of the various features of portals.

Many complaints have been lodged in the RfC to delete all portals, pointing out their various problems. They say that many portals are not maintained, or have fallen out of date, are useless, etc. Many of the !votes indicate that the editors who posted them simply don't believe in the potential of portals anymore.

It's time to change all that. Let's give them reasons to believe in portals, by revitalizing them.

The best response to a deletion nomination is to fix the page that was nominated. The further underway the effort is to improve portals by the time the RfC has run its course, the more of the reasons against portals will no longer apply. RfCs typically run 30 days. There are 19 days left in this one. Let's see how many portals we can update and improve before the RfC is closed, and beyond.

A healthy WikiProject dedicated to supporting and maintaining portals may be the strongest argument of all not to delete.

We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.

Let's do this.

See ya at the WikiProject!

Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   10:22, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much

edit

The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.

By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.

Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.

If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.

Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   22:49, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

P.S.: if you reply to this message, please {{ping}} me. Thank you. -TT

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Lift & Oil, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nakhonratchasima (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
