Cornelis Corneliszoon Jol
editI am in the process of translating a novel based on this ancestor of mine, written by Jaap Waldenmaaier in the late 1940s. I have tried finding out more about this author without success. Can you help? Many thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Houtebeen (talk • contribs) 09:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC).
- Sorry, I can't help you with that. The only piece of info I have to offer is that his last name is spelled Waldenmaier, not Waldermaaier. Regards, Jvhertum 10:24, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Wonderbra Women
editThanks for your input on this. Frankly, I created this page to help find a depository for the "wonderbra women" that other wikipedians kept adding to the core Wonderbra article. The earliest versions of the Wonderbra article contained this list but during the FAC process, it was pretty much agreed that this was a bit frivolous and it was eliminated. I'm all ears on ways to better handle it. Since I'm relatively new to wikipedia, I'm not sure if there's another way of creating lists to accommodate the pop-oriented contributions. Mattnad 16:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I do not think the subject is notable enough to warrant its own page, hence the notability tag. IMO it should be merged into Wonderbra and is interesting enough to be mentioned there. If however the consensus is that it is frivolous and should be eliminated, than it certainly should not be moved to its own page but, as is the consensus, eliminated. Regards, - Jvhertum 14:28, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Linear iga
editThanks for the changes you have made to this article. I would like to have the titlle changed back to Linear IgA though, as noone ever refers to it as Linear Immunoglobulin A and most people looking for it would search for Linear iga, which doesnt bring up the article when searching via an external search engine such as google. Liga girl 11:40, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Liga girl, for page titles I prefer the full, non-abbreviated name. People will still find this article when searching for "Linear IgA", as typing this will automatically redirect to the article. However, I leave it to your discretion. Kind regards, Jvhertum 11:55, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
North Church
editThis is idiomatic English; "Northern Church" would not be, and is unnatural. While this is not the sort of point you will find in most dictionaries, see Old South Church (and Paul Revere). Please reconsider your opinion. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 14:33, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

We could send them to Wikipedia:Requests for Checkuser. It may help, as they appear to have a never-ending appetite to vandalise the Acid House article. Regards, Rudget Contributions 13:05, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Protection of Acid House
editHi Rudget, you recently semiprotected Acid house at my request, now that the semiprotection period has ended the problem has started again, see [1]. Could you take some action please? Thanks in advance! Jvhertum 12:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hello again Jvhertum. I see what you mean, unfortunately I am going to refrain from requesting protection of the page, and I suggest you do the same, as I am certain that the admin who would do the task would like to see more vandalism, i.e. a bigger and more better rationale for requesting protection of the page. Wait to see if there is anymore unconstructive or vandal edits (circa.10 edits) and then ask here, as I'm sure you already know. Regards, Rudget zŋ 15:48, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Ceephax /acid house
editHello, how are you? Hope you are ok. I tried to add Ceephax Acid Crew to the list of acid house musicians on the acid house page. Ceephax is quite notable and sells a lot of records, also he is a wizard on the TB-303 and other old Roland gear. I was just hoping to ask you why you removed it, because the message said that Ceephax is not acid house. I couldn't understand that. With your permission I would like to readd Ceephax. Please let me know what you think. I will come back here to check for your response. Have a great day. Rainbowabc (talk) 15:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Jvhertum. I just looked back at the Canals of Amsterdam article and noticed a list of no longer existing canals had been added to the article with a lot of red links. I have moved the list to the talkpage where people can use the information to help build the article, though I have serious doubts about its usefulness and validity in the article itself - especially in its current state. I had a look at the history and noted that you added the list, so you might be interested in having a discussion about my edit as I would assume you'd disagree and would want to put forward some reasons for why the list should be there. By the way, I did use proper English. I made an effort to be brief but comprehensive. It is acceptable to exclude prepositions to facilitate brevity.--Buster7 (talk) 05:33, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I removed the link... I'm still not sure what to do about this in the long run; I was hoping it would "die away" but apparently not any more. :( jj137 (talk) 02:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Then don't say it's "inappropriate" and don't contradict your own statements which you made on this page earlier, and last but not least formulate your own educated opinion on the matter, rather than satisfying other contributors' flagrantly biased vested interests. Rock Rock Rock
editI am not sure if you revisited rock rock rock. But we both were editing at the same time so I put an inuse tag on for a while. I am still up from last night, and will better cite my song connection. I was loath to put it in the trivia section, but I thought it was germaine to the music section of the article, even if it was not a direct movie connection. go ahead and date the cite tag if you like, but I should have a "reliable third party one in place very quickly, as I continue my Paul Simon as Jerry Landis, and Tom and Jerry documentation project.--K3vin (talk) 10:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Signing warnings
editIssuing warning templates against vandals is useful and appreciated, but you must remember to sign them. Speedy deletion nomination of Universiteit van Maryland
editA tag has been placed on Universiteit van Maryland, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a foreign language article that was copied and pasted from another Wikimedia project, or was transwikied out to another project. Please see Wikipedia:Translation to learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. RadioFan (talk) 10:55, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Nice work
editA friend just pointed me toward Vrouwekerk--congratulations on that and on the other nice articles you have produced on Dutch topics. If at any time you feel inclined to write on, for instance, any of Annie M.G. Schmidt's books, I'd be much obliged: you have easier access to Dutch sources than I do. I'm trying to fill in some of the blanks in Dutch literature, but it goes slowly.

- Hello, I will answer your query in English for the benefit of other users. The site www.weather-and-climate.com offers no country-wide information, nor does it cite any reliable sources (or any sources whatsoever) for the information it does present. Also, a Whois lookup of www.weather-and-climate.com reveals that it is owned by Jan Commandeur of Vier heemskinderenstraat 44-3, Amsterdam, which I assume to be you. This is in clear violation of Wikipedia's external links policy (WP:EL). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is not a medium for free promotion of your site. Please stop placing these spam links or I will raise this issue with the admins and seek appropriate action.
- Also, the deep house page clear states that the DJs and artists listed should have their own page on Wikipedia, and the ones you added did not. Obviously the artists listed should be noted representatives of the genre, so please do not add your friends and acquaintances. Jvhertum (talk) 15:45, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Aha very clear language! No idea it was forbidden to add a link to a website that is informative. Thanks for the info. By the way the deephouse dj's are not friends, but just really good deephouse dj's. Didn't see that they linked to other pages. Still new at this. :)
Kind regards,

You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:16, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

November 2011
editThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Sinterklaas. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. I notice that other editors have requested the same. I recognize that it was simply rearranging paragraphs, but communicating that would be beneficial. Thank you. editHey,
Do you plan on creating Hoge Sluis and Berlagebrug?
WhatsUpWorld (talk) 17:51, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I might. The Dutch- (and French-)language Wikipedia already have articles on these bridges. But I think it does not really matter who creates the page, that is not the reason for adding red links to an article. Red links help indicate that a page should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable. See further WP:RED.

1943 Bombing of Civil Registry
editI would like to add a permanent link to the Karl Groeger Jr. Article. I am the second cousin of Karl Groeger Jr. I live in Eugene Oregon and I knew both of Karl's parents very well in Chicago. When his mother, Frieda Groeger died, I received all of the documents and personal correspondence from Karl Jr. I attempted to edit the article on Karl Jr.by adding some information and also attempted to upload two additional photos which was unsuccessful. I am having a hard time following all of the editing instructions. I know that Karl spoke of his friend Coos Hartaugh in one of his last letters where he says that they were going to be executed together. Intelife13 (talk) 14:35, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi there. The article about the 1943 Amsterdam civil registry bombing already lists Gröger among the participants and links to his Wikipedia article. I see that you successfully uploaded a photo to Wikimedia and it now appears on Gröger's page. Which of the three men depicted is Gröger? Jvhertum (talk) 07:01, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

editSinterklaas
editHello,
You reverted my modifications on the Sinterklaas article, saying it's about the Sinterklaas feast specifically, not Saint Nicholas day (so I suppose it's about the "Dutch-Flemish" tradition). But the article begins like this "Sinterklaas (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌsɪntərˈklaːs]) or Sint-Nicolaas (Dutch pronunciation: [sɪnt ˈnikoːlaːs] (About this soundlisten)) is a legendary figure based on Saint Nicholas, patron saint of children". For me it's clearly about the traditional character, not the celebration (which already has its own article).
If it's about the "Dutch-Flemish" tradition of Sinterklaas, then I'm not really wrong though by adding some of the regions I added. The "Dutch-Flemish" version of the celebration expands throughout Netherlands and Belgium of course, but also throughout Rhineland (the northern parts, around Cleves) and the French Ardennes. But not in Lorraine as it is mentioned in the article. In Lorraine, like in Alsace, in Franche-Comté and in the Argonne it is the "French-German" tradition. The expression "French Low Countries" seems justified to me because it doesn't only concern French Flanders and Artois, but also French Hainaut, the Pale of Calais and Boulonnais (the last two are in the traditional province of Picardy).
Please let me know what you think about that.
CampagnardDeter (talk) 15:32, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message. Can you provide any reliable sources for the assertion that the Sinterklaas feast is also celebrated in those additional regions? Jvhertum (talk) 08:32, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
- I mean Lower Rhineland (Cleves and surrounding areas) are in the Dutch cultural sphere and the local traditional language is a Dutch-based one. This article mentions Sinterklaas in Lower Rhineland : https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/894835.shtml .
- In Lorraine it isn't Sinterklaas. The local tradition is the "French-German" one like in Alsace, Palatinate, the Argonne, etc., not the "Dutch-Flemish". I have obviously no article mentioning that Lorraine isn't concerned by Sinterklaasfeest, but there is no source saying it is. You can check photos and old representations of the celebration there, you won't see any Zwarte Piet. It's the "dirty-looking" Père Fouettard/Ruppelz there.
- For the French Low Countries, except Flanders and Artois already mentioned, what can I say... I don't know how you really make the difference between the specific Sinterklaas celebrations and the wider Saint Nicholas day, given the tone of the article. I suppose it has to be in the Dutch-Belgian cultural area and it has to include Zwarte Piet/the bright Père Fouettard, not the scary Père Fouettard/Ruppelz/Hans Trapp. Well then, it has no really sense to mention French Flanders and Artois, but to revert French Hainaut, the Pale of Calais and Boulonnais, these regions are totally nested geographically. An argument could be to remove Boulonnais, French Hainaut and the Pale of Calais because there is no Zwarte Piet during the celebrations. But there isn't any in Artois also. Maritime Flanders is the only French region with Zwarte Piet.
- To conclude you can ignore the Lower Rhineland, Boulonnais, Pale of Calais and French Hainaut things, but mentioning Lorraine here is wrong.
- The article you cited does not state that Sinterklaas is celebrated in the Lower Rhineland, but rather that St. Nicholas Day is celebrated there, as it is in various ways in many parts of Europe, so I don't think there is much rationale for adding Rhineland. I believe this belongs under Saint Nicholas Day instead. As regards Lorraine, I'm not sure the region's tradition with Père Fouettard can be called Sinterklaas as it is clearly significantly different than the Dutch/Belgian Sinterklaas tradition. So in the absence of reliable sources, I would support removing mention of Lorraine and any other regions that celebrate a different form of the Saint Nicholas feast than Sinterklaas. I am very interested in Wikipedia history and I am just wondering what you thought about this back then when the fact was revealed.
- I didn't know that, actually. Thanks for letting me know. The revert was for a pretty mundane reason though, it was a copy and paste job from a different web page. Jvhertum (talk) 06:02, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

The article Online authorisation has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged in 2007 as uncited - people likely already know the general meaning - I guess maybe the details are already in another cited article?
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Chidgk1 (talk) 11:30, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
