April 2024
editBefore adding a category to an article, as you did to Wild Blue Yonder (Doctor Who), please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. ☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 13:46, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Doctor Who#Request for comment: original network/country of origin in infoboxes. The United States is officially a country of origin for Doctor Who from 2023 onwards. Inpops (talk) 15:19, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- This is a category, not an infobox. Additionally, either an infobox entry or a category needs to be supported by the article, all of which do not mention Disney nor American production. Add the supporting comments and cites or remove the category.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 15:34, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- The Star Beast (Doctor Who) does mention Disney's involvement. Inpops (talk) 16:14, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Disney is mentioned for international distribution and airing, not production.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 16:18, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- But would that not be the same with the articles for Doctor Who and Doctor Who specials (2023), which mention Disney for the same reason and have similar categories? Inpops (talk) 16:24, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Category:2023 American television episodes has a description of: "Television episodes which originated in the United States in the year 2023." Even if the category is correct and appropriate, it must be mentioned/cited within the article. For example, we all know David Tennant is Scottish, but what if nowhere within his article does it mention that fact or of his birthplace or anything similar; we would not be able to have any categories mentioning his Scottishness because the article would not support it. You can certainly add back the American category if the article can support (justify) having it, not just because we know it to be true.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 00:00, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- So do you think the articles I mentioned above should or should not have those American categories? Inpops (talk) 12:09, 14 April 2024 (UTC)

Andrew Garfield
editI am unclear as to why you have reverted my edit to Andrew Garfield. The specific policy you have cited does not make (WP:CONTEXTBIO) does not state that Wikipedia has no preference between English and British, and in fact I never claimed in my edit summary to be preferring one over the other.
While I would not object to English, Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish, Manx, etc. being used in place of British in an article whose subject does not have multiple nationalities, and in fact have used those designations myself in articles, saying "English-American" mixes an administrative division (England) with a nation state (the United States of America), which to my mind only lowers the world's collective knowledge (enough of the world as it is falsely think "British" and "English" are synonyms, we don't need more of that).
Can you explain why you think your edit improves the article, or point to a policy which does support your edit? Adam Black talk • contribs 00:38, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- There should be a footnote there that talks about how British people are described as in articles. Also it is not "mixing". The word "and" is used to seperate "English" and "American" and avoid implying the ethnicity, and if a person is from the United States we wouldn't mention the specific state they're from over describing them as "American" in the lead, like your edit says. The article says Garfield considers England as his home (rather than the United Kingdom as a whole), so I would assume that's how he would want to be described. (per the footnoote:
editors should consider how reliable sources refer to the subject, particularly UK reliable sources, and whether the subject has a preferred nationality by which they identify.

September 2024
editPlease refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Danny Masterson. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 16:44, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- All edits I make on Wikipedia are intended to be in good faith. How is it "unconstructive" or "disruptive" to simply have the article use just one infobox than use two templates (one being used as a module)? I can understand if the criminal infobox was being used inappropriately, but here it wasn't (because it was used as a module). I have also made several edits like this before. Furthermore, I did not view the edit history of the article. I just found it on the Trending part of the Wikipedia mobile app. Inpops (talk) 18:07, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- It was inappropriate to change the infobox in a manner that would (hopefully obviously) be contentious without approaching other editors first. You shifted the focus to Masterson being a criminal, but there have been multiple discussions about that on the article's Talk page as well as inline notes in the article asking editors to be mindful about such things. Please seek consensus before making such significant changes in the future. DonIago (talk) 18:52, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
