We will have to be careful with merging the sandbox work with the article since it's been so long. Here is the location of the sandbox: Anwyl. YOB and YOD unknown should be placed in talk pages

Hi concerning this edit I suggest you that you read instructions in Category:Year of birth unknown. It reads "This category (and within its own specific purpose, the analogous Category:Year of death unknown) is intended for use on discussion pages of individuals from antiquity whose year of birth is lost to history and never likely to be known." -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:17, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Welsh churches

Thanks for your message. You may have detected my motive for creating these articles; I am doing some work on John Douglas (architect) from Chester whose article is currently a GAC. Associated with this article are four lists of his works. The Welsh churches for which I have written articles/stubs appear in List of works of John Douglas (new churches) and I am trying to create an article or stub for each of them. This, and other projects on which I am working, will not allow time to write articles on other Welsh churches (at present) - sorry.

I take your point on North Wales/Wales. Thanks also for making the changes to the current county titles; I had taken the counties from Hubbard's book which was published in 1986. Incidentally I have not been wikilinking "Wales" because of the advice given here and have spent some time in delinking "England" from the articles I have written; I should think that "Wales" falls into the same category. The colour in the "infobox church" comes automatically from the denomination; Anglican gives the purple colour, other denominations give different colours. Thanks for the article on Edward Reginald Frampton - he is the correct Frampton (but I don't think the name in the first sentence should be in italics).

I'm a bit stuck on finding info on "St David's Welsh Church, Colwyn Bay". Hubbard's book says it is in Rhiw Road, close to St Paul's, but I cannot find this road either - can you help? Best wishes, Peter. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 09:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Not sure what to say about linking/not linking Wales. At a minimum, at the beginning of the article I think it is sound to include. *Shrug* maybe I'm off base, but when I read an article that specifies location, I want to know the country and wikilink.

Glad I found the correct Mr. Frampton. I was very tired when I created the article, and thanks for removing the italics.

Hi Geauagrrl and Peter I. Vardy, hope you don't mind my being nosy but this page is on my watchlist and I saw this. I live not too far from Colwyn Bay. I don't know anything about the church as such but am familiar with Rhiw Road as it's near the centre of town. St John's is the largest church in the Bay and Eglwys (Gymraeg) Dewi Sant (presumably to distinguish it from the English-language church of the same name) is almost next door. Found this small book on the web, out of print but might help you (see here). Not even sure if the buildings still in use as a church (so many have closed) but there's a good chance I'll be popping into the Bay sometime in the near future for a bit of shopping so I'll try to remember to take a look. Found it! It's here, still an active church with services in Welsh. I intend to write a stub/short article about it. Additions of photographs of this church and St John's, Old Colwyn, to the infoboxes would be most welcome. Regarding linking of Wales (I will avoid "North Wales" in the future) I will follow the wikiproject policy, although I should have thought that the country is a major geographic location!

While I am in touch with you, is there any way of finding whether or not a building is listed? England has Images of England which, while not always accurate and up to date, is a great help. I have found a few local authorities (Bangor, Rossett) who provide information on the buildings within their boundaries, but no general list or reference for the whole country. According to the Vicar of Colwyn Bay, to whom I've just spoken, John Douglas did NOT design St David's church, Colwyn Bay. The vicar knows his stuff; he promptly listed all the local church by Douglas, namely St Paul's Colwyn Bay, Christ Church Bryn-y-maen, St John's Old Colwyn and All Saints, Deganwy.

Weather still fine here but not so hot as it was. Snow expected in northern England!!

I respectfully suggest that the biographer of John Douglas, Edward Hubbard, knows more about the matter than the vicar of Colwyn Bay (he is right about the other churches). Anyone who doubts this can read the references in the article (the 1991 book is out of print and would have to be borrowed from a library; the 1986 book is freely available). Peter I. Church infobox

I like your recent edit to St Luke's Church, Farnworth; it is much more elegant to have the title of the church in the website spot, rather than the address. This is what I used to do before Template:Infobox church became available, which seems to demand that the address should be shown rather than the name of the church. If anyone raises an objection we can always discuss it on the talk page.

Incidentally John Douglas (architect) has now been raised to the dizzy heights of a GA and I am wondering if it could go on to be a FA - there's something! Peter I. Vardy (talk) 18:48, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Glad you like the switch adding the church name to the URL, which I believe is more the standard than not. If anyone does object, the same format is present on the infobox as shown at Mars Hill Church and Oberlin Congregational Church.

Congratulations on achieving GA for John Douglas (architect)! Great way for you to start out the new week! One of these days I will get around to attempting again on my one GA try that failed posted here.

I have a reward of a different sort as it looks as though I've (with assistance) found my great-great-great grandfather John Lloyd's (b. 1791) birth record, and details of his parents and siblings at Llanafan Parish church, of the Trawsgoed estate. Saints

Wikipedia:NCP#Qualifiers_not_between_brackets says:

Qualifiers like Saint are only used as the first word for a page name if this epithet in itself is the most effective disambiguator. So there is:

• Saint Peter, to disambiguate from other people with the same name, including an (anti-)pope (see: Peter#Disambiguation).
• Saint Patrick, but Brigid of Ireland (saint, from the same era as the former).

Before the move, "Melangell" was a redlink, so a disambiguation using "Saint" wasn't needed. "Saint" is needed for David and for Afan as David and Afan have other uses than just the saint. Hope this makes sense. Bencherlite^Talk 18:03, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Vale of Glamorgan and Wales

Hi. I noticed you've done a lot of work on Wales. Dunno if you know but do you know about this site? It has a massive number of images for villages and roads and just about anywhere in the UK. I've already used to to provide images to many villages in the Vale and by the time I've finished I hope to provide photographs for every village in Wales. If you could upload some this would be great. Just have a search for local areas on geograph and you may be surprised.
