The Southwest Battle of Britain Memorial at Bowleaze Cove in Weymouth Dorset was unveiled on the 20th of September 2020 for the 80th Anniversary of The Battle of Britain. The Memorial is dedicated to the 544 brave young men who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom which will still enjoy today.

The Memorial which is situated near to the beach and looks out across to the island of Portland which was base for the Royal Navy and made it a substantial target for the Luftwaffe during the Summer of 1940. The island sore its fair share of aerial battles and many pilots meet their end defending the skies over the South West and some we're sadly never found ending up in a watery grave.

The Memorial is built out of Portland stone with three main stainless steel plaques containing the names of all 544 who were killed or Missing in action during July the 10th and September the 30th, it has been done in alphabetical order giving Name, Rank service number, Squadron, and date lost or killed. The top plaque also stainless Steel is dedicated to the 10 Group Squadrons from the South West.
