The 1940s in Western fashion were deeply marked by World War II, which started on September 1, 1939 and ended on September 2, 1945. Thus, the decade can be more or less divided into two equal halves: the first marked by the global conflict and the second by the return of peace, although the unprecedented effects of the war influenced the entire period.
