Training?

edit

How about an entry to designate area of training (for trained animals)? ↜Just me, here, now 02:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. Let's wait to see if others agree. WWGB (talk) 03:01, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
It does appear that you are varying a Wiki-wide template for the purpose of adding particular material to one article, namely Bo (dog). That material could just as easily be included in the article space without changing the template. Increasing the scope of a generic template without significant demand makes it more unwieldy and it may be implemented less frequently in articles as a consequence. WWGB (talk) 03:07, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not all blanks are used in every article, it just offers that option. (A link is included to animal training, a phenomenon true among a host of animals.) ↜Just me, here, now 03:19, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
These templates handle up to 80 entries, with individual versions containing as many entries as needed. (The Template:Infobox Officeholder eg contains 47). And, of course, excess code than that filled out for use within a particluar article may be removed. ↜Just me, here, now 14:13, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nationality?

edit

To increase precision I changed "nationality" to "nation from" (believeing eg an infobox for Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing would more accurately read "Nation from: China" than "Nationality: Chinese"(?)...). ↜Just me, here, now 17:32, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image size

edit

Does anyone know how to adjust the image size on this template? SlimVirgin 18:59, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Use imagesize=???px. --Philip Stevens (talk) 19:44, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
That worked. Many thanks, Philip. SlimVirgin 19:47, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Parameter names

edit
"born": not applicable to non-mammals, which are hatched or bred, but not born
"gender": not applicable to animals. OED: In mod. (esp. feminist) use, a euphemism for the sex of a human being. The correct term would be "sex".

Resting place display bug

edit

There's a bug, seen on The King of Rome, where the resting place's label is not showing. I think it may be down to the use of {{br separated entries}}, but im not familiar with that template. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:57, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. There was a labal/data numbering mismatch. Edokter (talk) — 12:26, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Relative age field

edit

There is no universally accepted authoritative basis for calculating this. It is thoroughly unreliable and unscientific. It can only be verified as an old wives' tale. Removing this as unencyclopaedic. Kevin McE (talk) 11:05, 25 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Website param not working?

edit

The |website= does not seem to be working properly (or perhaps I'm missing some mistake on the page I'm looking at). See Sam (ugly dog) for example. Anyone able to investigate? EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 06:14, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wonderful! Thank you! EvergreenFir (talk) 03:14, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
edit

The entry 'Appearance' links to an article 'Coat' which is specific to mammals. This is not appropriate in the case of non-mammals. For an example, see https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Jeremy_(snail) 125.238.105.2 (talk) 10:57, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Unlinked. There isn't really any appropriate article to link such a general concept as "appearance" to.Plantdrew (talk) 15:16, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

native_name and native_name_lang parameters not working

edit

Using |native_name= and |native_name_lang= will result in errors, despite them being listed as supported parameters. Aithus (talk) 09:23, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

"Title" parameter not working

edit

The 'title' parameter doesn't seem to be working, and doesn't display anything, which leaves other parameters like predecessor and term orphaned and non-sensical.

See for instance Primley Sceptre or Araki Fabulous Willy.

Not sure how it is supposed to display, but would hope that it's like {{Medalw}} OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 13:24, 7 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
