Talk:Tropical Storm Colin (2022)

is this even article worthy

edit

damages and deaths are way too low to be article worthy it also way too short lived too FleurDeOdile 15:44, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Colin formed on land which performed a brown ocean effect which isnt common. There is even less notable storms such as Tropical Storm Danny (2021) article, it only did 5k damages with 0 deaths, yet it still has a article. Colin actually did samiler damages and actually killed 1-2 people. I think the article should be kept Rainbow Galaxy POC (talk) 00:27, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
People have fixed Colin. It has been made notable enough to stay. This was brought up on Talk:2022 Atlantic hurricane season and the storm's article has been fixed by Drdpw and others. Hurricane Chandler (talk) 01:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
This was suggested by someone a while back but as @Rainbow Galaxy POC and @Hurricane Chandler stated, Colin has been updated to be considered notable. MoldovaballMapping (talk) 01:18, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@FleurDeOdile: you could start an AfD, as a WP:NOPAGE case could me made for merger with the season article. Drdpw (talk) 01:46, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
With how often minimal impact storms that hit the U.S. get articles, I see no reason to move this article. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 05:51, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Also Colin was a rare storm that formed over land. IMO, no merge needed. Hurricane Su (talk) 23:04, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

A post discussion note: According to the TCR, Colin formed offshore not over land on July 1, and stayed near the coast until dissipating on July 2. Drdpw (talk) 18:44, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Does that mean that it should be deleted? Mitch199811 (talk) 19:35, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I’m leaning more to delete now since NHC directly said, “there were no reports of damage associated with Colin.” No reason to keep the article since it was not notable and was practically a fish storm with one indirect fatality. Elijahandskip (talk) 19:41, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would support Redirecting it because the impacts and meteorological history can fit into the main article, 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. I don't see a lot of sources outside of the NHC and NWS, although the sources provided do not have significant coverage of Colin. Sarrail (talk) 19:56, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Although AccuWeather has some coverage of it, it is generally not reliable. Sarrail (talk) 19:57, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Keep - this is a Danielle situation. The guidelines are followed. Minimal is not none. One person also died, and it is a storm that affected the inland United States. If it wasn’t notable, it wouldn’t have been accepted. Hurricane Su (talk) 21:00, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Actually, NHC said it was none, therefore, there was no “minimal” damage. It does not pass WP:NWeather. Elijahandskip (talk) 21:02, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
The NHC is not always accurate. There are plenty of sources stating damage Hurricane Su (talk) 21:04, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
We accept NHC’s wording and based on the 16 page Tropical Cyclone Report on TS Colin, they said “ there were no reports of damage associated with Colin.” Per previous discussions, the infobox contains details from NOAA or the official sources, so the official statement is that Colin caused no damage, so the infobox needs to reflect that. Elijahandskip (talk) 21:08, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I too would support Redirection to the season article. The meteorological history is brief, and most of the preparation and impact material is there already. Drdpw (talk) 21:07, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I might be neutral with this. Seeing most people wanting to delete it, and with colin doing no damages makes me think that it will be redirected/deleted. but meanwhile colin may have some notable stuff, with the main reason being a brown ocean effect. it isnt that common, and colin performed that effect. it caused 1 death which dont mean nothing. it also attacked the US mainland. so im more closer to the Keep side Rainbow Galaxy POC (talk) 21:22, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
