State of Georgia (disambiguation) → State of Georgia – Per WP:PRECISE. The term "state" can be ambiguous as it can describe both countries, sovereign states and constituent or federated states or sub-divisions of a country (such as in Australia or the US). Georgia (country) could also be considered a "(sovereign) state". Hence Georgia (U.S. state) is not Georgia (state). PK2 (talk) 03:25, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- Strong oppose per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. While it’s possible for “State of X” to refer to a sovereign state named X, it’s such an uncommon usage that we don’t even have links in that form for most sovereign states. For example State of France, and Georgia’s neighbors State of Armenia, State of Azerbaijan, State of Kazan are all red links. And while State of Turkey exists as a dab page, neither of the two entries on it refer to the sovereign state, Turkey. On the other hand, for every U.S. state named X, we have a “State of X” link to the article about state X (e.g. State of Alabama, State of Alaska, State of Arizona, etc. This makes it abundantly clear that “State of X” is a common name for a U.S. state named X but not a sovereign state named X, and that the primary topic for State of Georgia is clearly the topic at Georgia (U.S. state). Please note that PRIMARYTOPIC is explicitly called out as an exception at WP:PRECISE, so PRECISE is waived here. —-В²C ☎ 06:07, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- The country's descriptive name is "Republic of Georgia" while the US state is "State of Georgia" this means that the country isn't much of a contender for this term however the TV series and building are so I'm unsure on this move. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:00, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- The page views for the state, TV series and building are 93765, 442, and 172, respectively. That's 150+ times as many views for the state than for the other two articles combined. There cannot be any question here. --В²C ☎ 22:08, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- That's pageviews for "Georgia" not "State of Georgia". Similar to the point at Talk:Steven Morrissey (footballer)#Requested move 27 August 2018 we need to ask how often the US state is called "State of Georgia". Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:36, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

- Strong oppose per Born2cycle above. Continuing on Crouch, Swale's point, I think Georgia (country) and Georgia (U.S. state) should be moved to Republic of Georgia and State of Georgia, respectively. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 06:24, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think so, unlike Republic of Ireland the Georgias don't appear to have commonly used descriptive names. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:36, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- I was thinking more of a WP:NATURAL disambiguation. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 18:41, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

- Weak oppose - "State of Georgia" is an official name referring to the U.S. state, just like "Republic of Georgia" is the formal name of the country. While both could be considered "states", we already have Georgia (state) and almost nobody is going to refer to the country of Georgia as the State of Georgia. estar8806 (talk) ★ 16:25, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. As for the TV series and building, I'm willing to give it to the U.S. state on the long-term significance factor. Adumbrativus (talk) 02:43, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
