- The term Turkestan, especially when we are talking about Russian Turkestan, does not only comprise the Turkic-speaking countries, but also Iranian-speaking ones, like Tajikistan. Samarkand and Bukhara at the time of the conquest were predominantly Persian-speaking. --Lingveno (talk) 12:17, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
