Picture
editAnyone have a picture of Jess McMahon? I've tried looking all over the internet with no success.
there was a pic of him on mr.mcmahon apreciaton night
I'm pretty sure this is him: http://www.blackfives.com/blog_pics/commons.jpg
It's a picture of the Commonwealth Big Five basketball team he owned along with his brother Edward. As it's not 100% certain it's Roderick I won't put it into the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.1.104.2 (talk) 19:49, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
References
editThere is so little information about him, and I doubt that there is any picture on the internet to display on his article. If anyone can find useful references, and/or a picture, that would really help this article a lot.--EclipseSSD (talk) 14:09, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Roderick McMahon → Jess McMahon – Per common name guidelines and the current redirect already links here.Tærkast (Discuss) 13:04, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
OpposeGoogle gives about 14,600 results for "Roderick McMahon" and about 13,600 for "Jess McMahon". Many of the latter are actually results containing "Roderick 'Jess' McMahon". The current redirect works fine. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:09, 3 September 2012 (UTC)- Comment - Is the latter not then indicative of his common name? Google results should not primarily determine the title of an article, although I will note that a Google Book search gives 12,800 results for "Roderick McMahon", with 19,100 for "Jess McMahon".--Tærkast (Discuss) 12:25, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- The latter indicates Roderick McMahon is the common name. I used quotes in searching, so the first didn't turn up any "Roderick 'Jess' McMahon". Most of the "Jess McMahon" results used Roderick as the name, and Jess as just a nickname. InedibleHulk (talk) 20:43, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I'd disagree that Roderick is the common name. Google Books, both with and without quotes show that Jess is the more common form. Bill Clinton is not at William Jefferson Clinton, or William Clinton. Also, I'd say that many of the sources saying "Roderick 'Jess' McMahon", actually derive that from this article. Still, since it's unlikely to be moved, it's fine. --Tærkast (Discuss) 20:36, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's likely Wikipedia mirrors skew the results. I wish Google had an option to exclude duplicate text from results. Seems like it would be easy enough. Google's News Archives seem to favour "Jess McMahon" with "boxing" or "wrestling" attached.
I'm leaning toward changing my vote, but not quite.InedibleHulk (talk) 22:26, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

- Support as established common name. I find it completely bizarre that this article fails to mention McMahon's association with Tex Rickard. Still, there's another example. We commonly refer to Tex Rickard, in spite of my own research into the Klondike Gold Rush and the Nome Gold Rush, which turns up a slew of references to "G. L. Rickard".RadioKAOS (talk) 13:12, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
