If he really was an emigrant to Germany, and resident there for some years I believe he belongs in Category:German emigrants to the United States. This is meant to be a category for permanent residents of Germany who relocate to the US. The other option is to place him in Category:Soviet expatriates in Germany and Category:Soviet emigrants to the United States. There is a reason why we have some categories with names like Category:Emigrants from the Russian Empire to the United States, this is not meant to be a judgement on ethnicity, but national affiliation. Even affiliation with nations you hate. So if a Kurdish indepedence activist leaves Turkey or Iraq today, no matter how much they feel not Turkish or Iraqi, they would still go under the emigration category for that country. We maybe should change a lot more category names to the from x country to y instead of X-ian to y format, but that is a huge nomination of thousands of categories, unless someone can come up with some specific as applied changes that are needed.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:29, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
