Six years age difference or nine years age difference?

edit

All the Wikipedia cites show an age difference of six years but the quote from the media writer says there was an difference of nine years... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.162.249.170 (talk) 23:44, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I just watched YouTube recording about Loretta Lynn in which she states that she was married at the age of 13 and had 4 babies by the time she was 17 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7rxKMHL26w 209.197.150.226 (talk) 04:08, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
She lie ... uh fibbed about her age. There is no doubt. Read the link I provided above. Or just do the math. Born 4-14-1932, married on 1-10-1948 equals 15 years, 8 months and 28 days old. Sir Rhosis (talk) 07:50, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Age difference

edit

The article says "one of the great legends of the twentieth century"[4] and "one of the most compelling tales in American popular culture." about the age difference which suggests that it’s something good when it actually isn’t. Today that type of thing wouldn’t be acceptable as it is statutory rape. Statutory rape isn’t a great legend or a compelling tale, it’s wrong. I think the article should be updated to reflect that. I don’t think you should write something that makes something that is objectively bad look good. 2600:6C48:7A7F:70B4:3174:81C1:4A03:7D9D (talk) 18:46, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Zero mention of Oliver Lynn's war service and experience

edit

If the background I've read about Oliver Lynn is correct, this man went through a lot. Servicemen who were mortally wounded on D-Day died in his arms and in his care. He saw things no person should ever see. He experienced things that affected others for the rest of their lives. I'm the son of a veteran who went through similar events on Red Beach at Dieppe, France in 1942. This eight-hour experience, and another three years in captivity, would shape his personality for the rest of his life. Alcohol? Yes. Smoking? Yes. Fits of abuse and violent temper? Yes and yes again. It's safe to make the assumption that my father self-medicated the demons inside him for the rest of his life.

There is no mention of this anywhere in this Wikipedia biography. It would explain a lot, and also explain the demons that Loretta Lynn herself helped to quell. What Oliver Lynn did should not be waved off with a simple reference of "he served in the US Army." There is more to it than that. Far more. Oliver Lynn has been wrongly demonized on this page, and other articles. Billbird2111 (talk) 20:50, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
