"first jet interceptor"?
edit"It was the first jet-powered aircraft to be designed for the Interceptor role from the outset to enter service"
The Me 262 doesn't count? It was designed specifically to intercept Allied bombers. That's an interceptor. It's not an air superiority or tactical fighter. They branched the design of to include a fighter bomber version but the design was concieved as an interceptor and went into service as an interceptor. Pretty sure the Meteor was also intended as an interceptor, which was definitely the role it was placed in. The Scorpion was the first all weather jet interceptor.
