NH 44A and not NH 44, moreover NH 7
editIt is not being renamed. NH 7 remains NH 7 that connects Varanasi to Kanyakumari via Nagpur. Whereas a new NH 44a is being compiled by connecting parts of NH 1, NH 3 and NH 7 to connect Jammu to Kanyakumari. Officially NH 44 is the one that connects Shillong to Agartala. I will be doing the relevant changes within a few days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.136.19.212 (talk) 16:51, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Renaming NH7 to NH44
editPlease provide an authoritative citation or original reference here, according to my knowledge NH7 from Varanasi to Kanyakumari will remain to be known as NH7. While, NH44 is a name of the new highway formed by connecting the parts of NH7 (Kanyakumari-Bengaluru-Hyderabad-Nagpur-Lakhnadon), NH26 (Lakhnadon-Jhansi), NH75 (Jhansi-Gwalior), NH3 (Gwalior-Agra), NH2 (Agra-Delhi), NH1 (Delhi-Jalandhar), NH1A (Jalandhar-Srinagar). Thus NH44 is Kashmir to Kanyakumari highway which is a combination of several highways. It doesn't include the Lakhnadon-Varanasi part of NH7. Thus NH7 remains the same (Varanasi-Kanyakumari). A new page for NH44 should be created without disturbing the page of NH7. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.249.210.42 (talk) 09:24, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
