the phrase "my brothers blood machine" is used in the song from the CO&CA album by the same name:

can anyone explain what that means in the context to th Coheed story. like I know they intertwine and such, but doesn't the Album My brothers blood machine, take place in a different time, and on earth. while the song keeping secrets is about a battle between the red army and Jessie's (the actual prize fighter inferno) rebels.

as far as I understand, Jessie dies somewhere in Good Apollo and is reborn on earth in the past. where he learns of the blood machine and narrates the story of the kids killing the people to get the souls and such. --Ksharpe126

Well, I take it you know what the Blood Machine does, in the Prize Fighter Inferno's narration. What it is here is hard to tell. It sounds like his heart - but it could also be a refrence to the actual Blood Machine used in the album of the same name - The album is based in the past, and in the same universe, I believe. ≈ The Haunted Angel 12:56, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you think it might mean Claudio? cause don't they call Jessie his brother and like you said the blood machine here might be his heart. so do you think it could mean "sincerely written from claudio's heart"? or is he still asleep then?

Technically, Jesse is Claudio's Uncle (except that none of them are actually human, so it's really in name only). By this point, all of Claudio's siblings are dead, so it can't really refer to him. The lines previous mention the Jackhammer, a weapon that is used to shoot down Jesse's ship - although that doesn't take place until the very end of In Keeping - and actually appears in the Good Apollo graphic novel. However, none of the people who shoot the ship down have a mentioned brother, so the POV must change back to someone. My guess is that the line is "spoken" by Jesse, and his brother being Coheed. If this is true, then I speculate that Jesse is saying this metaphorically to the enemy, such as Ryan. His brother was killed by Ryan's forces, and he wants to take revenge on them for it. So, again, this is just speculation, Jesse is passing on the vengeance that Coheed wanted to exact on Ryan's forces for putting the Kilgannon's through this; which means that the "Blood Machine" is in fact his heart - somewhat of a pun, considering it was an actual thing elsewhere in the story. ≈ The Haunted Angel 20:04, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Nah; again, the Jackhammers are the weapons used to shoot down Jesse's ship. They can be seen in the Good Apollo Graphic Novel and on the Good Apollo DVD. ≈ The Haunted Angel 11:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I concur with The Haunted Angel regarding the meaning of "My Brother's Blood Machine" in IKSSE3. Jesse is emphasizing his brother's - and consequently his own - inhumanity, I feel, in calling Coheed's heart a "blood machine". It is a pun, but it also serves to remind his audience - his "children", the enemy, or whomever else he is addressing - that IRO-bots are not human.

I do disagree, however, when you say he can't be addressing his children/soldiers with the line "Man your own Jackhammer" - simply put, why can't Jesse's rebel forces have the same type of weaponry as the Red Army?

I would love to continue this discussion, for the simple reason that I love discussing the plot and the verbal imagery of Sanchez's albums, but I get the feeling we're borderline in violation of talk rules. If you'd like to continue discussion, perhaps we can move the conversation to one of our usertalk pages?
