Cuisine
editI have been attempting to improve this article, but I have very limited knowledge of Indian cuisine so with very few references I can not be sure I am preserving the intended meaning of the section as originally written. If anyone has superior knowledge or relevant references that would be greatly appreciated.--NK1406 (talk) 03:23, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
References
editI noticed the demographics section for this article lists www.census2011.co.in as a reference. This site is blacklisted in Wikipedia as it is a scraper and therefore considered unreliable. After considerable effort attempting to locate Mangalwedha in the official census data I was unable to find a better reference. I am leaving the demographics section as is right now as it seems a better alternative than deleting the whole section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NK1406 (talk • contribs) 20:16, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- @NK1406: http://www.citypopulation.de/php/india-maharashtra.php?cityid=2743006000 Is this reference better? Cheesycow5 (talk) 23:19, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- I think that would fall into the same category as www.census2011.co.in, but I'm a rather new editor and I'm not sure. Ideally we could find Mangalwedha in the official census records at https://censusindia.gov.in/. I did notice that in the site you linked to two names were provided, Mangalwedha and Mangalvedhe. I was able to find Mangalvedhe in the census records (selecting Solapur at this site) although it is listed as having a population of 184,108 and is classified as "CD Block" instead of "Village" like other towns, which makes me question whether it is the same location as this article. In all I am very confused.NK1406 (talk) 16:39, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- @NK1406: Is the Mangalvedha on row 896 of the site you posted correct? It does say "Village", but the population is only 12409. Cheesycow5 (talk) 16:57, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Cheesycow5: Yes, I believe so! I don't know how I missed that before. It appears some of my confusion came from that "Mangalvedhe" is the name of a tehsil, or subdivision of Solapur district. It looks like Mangalvedha/Mangalwedha is a town within the Mangalvedhe tehsil. The only question that leaves is with regards to the population, which the site you linked to conflicts with, although 20,000 vs 10,000 isn't a hugely unreasonable difference I guess.
- @NK1406: The site I linked to says its source is the official site you linked to, so I'm wondering how the numbers could be different. Maybe the correct population is in another spreadsheet in that long list of files? Cheesycow5 (talk) 17:19, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Cheesycow5: I agree, more investigation is necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NK1406 (talk • contribs) 22:41, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Cheesycow5: This looks like it matches.NK1406 (talk) 22:49, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
