Merge with individual character articles

• The majority of the characters in this franchise are not sufficiently individually notable to justify their own articles. The AfD dealing with these articles resulted in several users suggesting that the following individual character articles be merged to the main Tom and Jerry article: Spike (Tom and Jerry), Tyke (Tom and Jerry), Butch (Tom and Jerry), Quacker (Tom and Jerry), Toodles Galore, Lightning (Tom and Jerry), Topsy (Tom and Jerry), Meathead (Tom and Jerry). Now that there is a character list, however, this is a better place for merging the articles. Neelix (talk) 17:11, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

• I'd leave Spike with his own individual character article and make Tyke part of it. After all, if Mammy and Tuffy can have their own articles (decisions I'm okay with), so can the similarly important Spike.

Merge with List of Tom & Jerry Kids characters

This list already encompasses Tom & Jerry Kids, rendering a second list superfluous. As such, List of Tom & Jerry Kids characters should be merged here. Neelix (talk) 19:44, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

As of the time I write this, List of Tom & Jerry Kids characters is a horrible mess with tons of incomprehensible sentences. I'm not a fan of 1990s Hanna-Barbera, so I don't even know enough to correct some of the garbled information. One off characters should not be a part of the list. As a result I am adding a small subsection for one-off characters. Please take care to mention such characters there.

Origin of names

Note: Tom's name was not inspired by the tomcat English expression, which means male cat!

It was the animator John Carr who, in an internal competition, sponsored by the MGM, suggested Tom and Jerry in honor of the British soldiers and German World War II: Tommy was the name given to a British soldier and Jerry was the name given to a German soldier who was to become much easier and better identificaçãod and every one!

And, by the way, he received $ 50.00 prize for the input!

Jerry's 3 Bavarian cousins?
