Rename to "Image sharing" or "Picture sharing"
This article isn't just about the sharing of photographs but all kinds of (digital) images / pictures - hence it should be renamed. --Fixuture (talk) 01:22, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Content needs to be expanded
The content in social networking is too short and it needs to be expanded. Following references could be used for photo sharing article.

Class Assignment
Hello Editors. This is class assignment for which I have to review an article that my peers have chosen as their project.
- First of all, I would like to say that I like the lead section. Because it is the window to rest of the article, and in this article, it is able to tell us what all information we can expect in the rest of the sections.
- Another section that could be included would be the concerns in using photo sharing sites , like one could talk about the photo privacy in the tagging world. This section could also talk about what is being done in order to uphold privacy, like new research in this area like [1], talks about JPEG scrambling to protect privacy.
- I think a section regarding the applications of photo sharing would also be relevant here. For example the application of photo sharing in disaster. Images captured using mobile phones could be extremely useful during disasters. [2]. Other applications would be travel route recommendations as this paper talks about using geo-tagging in photo sharing sites. (Kurashima, T., Iwata, T., Irie, G., & Fujimura, K. (2010, October).Travel route recommendation using geotags in photo sharing sites. In Proceedings of the 19th ACM international conference on Information and knowledge management (pp. 579-588). ACM.)
- Since the history is missing a citation , I tried to find the citation for it .The history is probably from this journal [3]
- Few things that I feel could be changed are -
- Lead Section “Sharing means that other users can view but not necessarily download the photos, users being able to select different copyright options for their photos.” I feel the sentence is not clear. I dont understnad how the first part of the sentence is related to the second part.
- "and" needs to be removed from 2nd paragraph
- History needs more detail. It is just mentioned “this has resulted in different approaches to revenue generation and functionality among providers.” The previous information doesn’t support this information so “this has resulted” is not making much sense here.
- Revenue models –I feel subscription based could then come within revenue models
- Peer to peer – server or service? In the 3 models, server and service is being used. If one of them is used it will reduce confusion
- Peer to server – Examples of peer to server could be added here for better understanding.
- "Consequently, photos shared in this way are accessible not only to users who have downloaded the correct peer software (compatible with the software in use by the sharer)" - Here the second half of the sentence is missing, which should have included a “but also…”
- "Photos tagging - Most of the time photos can only be tagged by the user to uploads the photo but on some sites photos can be tagged by other users as well". – “who” instead of “to”
- Data bases typo – databases
- The paragraph could be written as- "They can not only be used for crowdsourced classification (see#Photos classification) but also play a socio-cultural role by establishing neologisms, Internet memes, snowclones, slogans, catch phrases, shared vocabularies and categorizations as well as producing comedic twists, contexts and perspectives of the presented images, thereby playing a significant role in the community building , identity formation and entertainment in online communities that allow the creation of broad folksonomies". Or it could be framed any other way. Its could be made easier to understand.
Overall I feel the improvement could be done in expanding the existing sections by adding more information. New and important sections could be added. Grammatical errors could be fixed. Thank you! Aishwarya889 (talk) 03:08, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
Article Review-Class Assignment
This article can be improved in different sections.
- History of this article can be improved.
- Social Network section can be vastly improved in it's length as it has only minor information(only limited up-to 2012).
- A lot more sections can be added with more reliable sources and supporting references.
- As Photo Sharing is a vast topic more research can be done and can improve the sections in it.
- The role of Geo-tagging in Photo Sharing can be much more increased
.
Review of an article
photo sharing is a device which can be used in sharing images in multiple devices. now-d-days sharing photos online through social media website is most popular in today's world.
1. I saw lead section plays a vital role in the overall content of the article it clearly explains how photo sharing works.
2. I think there can be a subheading included for explaining the multiples devices functioning in photo sharing. this section can include how multiple devices works on devices a brief explanation can be included.
3. There is no sufficient references and citation also needed in particular section it contains personal opinion of the topic included.
4. I think history section can be included by explaining when photo sharing has been in existence and how far it is running in today's technology.
5. overall, I would say each section can have brief explanation. Particularly in some section like social network, mobile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Palusam roja (talk • contribs) 00:58, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
Article Review
There are many ways to share a photo and to save them. This article covered all the possible areas of the photo sharing but did not dig in detail. There is scope in this article to talk about the geo tagging and many other trending photo sharing techniques . See also section can be improved by adding some of the topics like google photos.Sravani 03:31, 15 October 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naga Sravani Dasari (talk • contribs)
review the article
The most basic feature is the ability to upload your digital photos to the Web, organize them and allow other people to see them. For Ex:Flickr is most popular photo sharing websites. And one thing is missing on this article is geo-tagging is used to tag your pictures on social media. There is a scope to develop on that section — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohanavamsi iska (talk • contribs) 18:20, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: IAR closing a bit early, unanimous move (non-admin closure) — Andy W. (talk) 06:18, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Photo sharing → Image sharing – It's actually about the sharing of images - not just photographs. One could also create a new article & category but in my view that would be undue here as these 2 would overlap way too much - for the category almost all entries of the current category would need to be copied over (except a handful of entries like 500px; note that image-sharing communities are typically also photo-sharing communities so most entries would really need to be in both categories). Note that even if a new article & category would be considered appropriate here that can still be done (and more easily so) after the article & category got moved. (Alternative name: Picture sharing) Fixuture (talk) 20:18, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support; Proposed name is better than the current one. Image sharing is used for al kinds of visual media. InsertCleverPhraseHere 11:44, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support; Image sharing. The article covers technologies which encompass more types of digital images than just photos. Photo sharing does not cover this article, fully. The article will need a thorough rewrite to properly reflect this, though. EP111 (talk) 13:56, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support – Wider scope indeed. — JFG talk 16:24, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support: Definitely a more proper name -- to my mind, "photo" indeed implies images taken with a camera exclusively, whereas the article covers the sharing of images in general. [Belinrahs|talktome⁄ ididit] 22:09, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Good nomination. List of photo-sharing websites should move to List of image-sharing websites as well and for the same reasons. VQuakr (talk) 22:17, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
- Support as per everyone above. –Davey2010Talk 03:45, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Article overhauled
Hello all, I have just completed a pretty significant overhaul of the article. There are some expanded and new sections, but largely it is an improvement of the existing content - new references added, grammatical errors removed, etc. There is almost certainly some things that I missed while doing this - but I went ahead with this overhaul as I was certain most changes would be unanimously considered good. I welcome any feedback and further improvements! [Belinrahs|talktome⁄ ididit] 20:19, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
