Shape of a guillemot's egg
editI heard on Inside Science today (Thursday 23 August 2018) that the guillemot's egg is shaped like an obelisk. This could be mentioned in the article when the article discusses guillemot's eggs. Vorbee (talk) 15:45, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
Dutch article
editI don't know how to mark this corrrectly: the Dutch article on this subject is NL:Zeekoet but I don't see a link to that. Can anyone fix that?

- Naamloze gebruiker – Yes and no. That is, I think I can, possibly/probably, but I am not sure that I should, and I think it perhaps needs the attention of a bird expert. The reason I say this is that it is a bit of a terminological mess across species and countries and languages. The EN article which already links to NL:Zeekoet is Common murre. You will see its NL link there and indeed it's where you come if you follow the EN link from NL:Zeekoet. So it's already linked, and I am not sure if it can/should be linked twice or how that would work. It's all in the editing of the wikidata – for example here – what links where across WP versions. The only thing I think I can suggest is to find the appropriate Wikiproject here and ask them, or maybe to check at the Dutch end whether their bird project has a view or if it would be sensible to alter the EN destination for NL:Zeekoet.
- Sorry to not be more helpful. I am hoping someone else will ride to the rescue! Cheers DBaK (talk) 08:21, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- PS I found it very funny to have a Naamloze gebruiker apologize for not signing! :) DBaK (talk) 08:21, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- PPS I had a go asking for help at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds#Bird terminology across projects. Hope this helps. DBaK (talk) 08:29, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- I see what you mean. Perhaps it would be better if EN:Guillemot would link to NL:Zeekoeten since it appears more birds are called Zeekoet. But NL:Zeekoeten is redirected to NL-Zeekoet, which is not very helpful. In Dutch, all the species mentioned here as Guillemots (and no other), are all called 'zeekoet', most of them with some prefix. So it may be useful to edit the Dutch article NL:Zeekoeten en then let this article link to that one. But I'll wait to see if someone in the projects you reached out to can clarify first. Thanks for your help. Naamloze gebruiker (talk) 22:18, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- With that edit I meant: make NL:Zeekoeten reflect that it is the informal name of a number of species. Naamloze gebruiker (talk) 22:23, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- The ornithologists don't seem to be awake yet (or maybe they're out in the fields) so I just did it: made an appropriate article in the Dutch WP and changed the interwiki link. To me it appears to be a lot better like this. Anyway, thanks for your efforts DBaK. Naamloze gebruiker (talk) 13:33, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- Works for me! I think it's fine like that and if it's wrong I'm sure a grown-up will be along to put it right! Thank you too Naamloze gebruiker for your work here. Cheers DBaK (talk) 20:05, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
