Merge of Gender Studies

edit

I would support it, but some 2nd wave feminists might object. -- TheMightyQuill 13:22, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I definitely don't support it. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which by nature includes history and, therefore, praxis. I feel gender studies and feminist studies should be kept separate because of their different origins. --Kara

I don't support it either. The histories of the two areas of study are different, though interrelated. The people who work in these fields make distinctions between them. University departments and programmes choose one name or the other based on their own discussions. Since they are two separate things out in the world, no matter how much common ground they share or how controversial the issue of naming has become, we cannot rewrite history by lumping them together. scribblingwoman 17:35, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
