Original cast member?

edit

Im adding it back, the hostorical status of her character is important, as she was created during the shows planned run (12 episodes). March 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.7.200.50 (talk) 01:44, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've removed this sentence that was added to first paragraph: "Emily Bishop is a semi-original cast member of Coronation Street." I believe the sidebar and paragraph as it stands conveys the basic facts: 1) the role was originally played by unnamed extra; 2) the character's first appearance was in 1960; 3) Derbyshire's first appearance wasn't until 1961. I can't see that it adds much the article to keep trying to wedge in opinions on 'how original' the character is. Eponymoose (talk) 22:58, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Marriage status

edit

I've changed her status to "widow". There is no such status as "annulled". An annulment means a marriage never existed, so how can someone have a status that means 'never existed'? FearÉIREANN \(caint) 21:29, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Early years

edit

Interested to learn an extra was Miss Nugent and then Derbyshire showed up in episode 15. Was she laucnhed a s regular from that point on, or was this an isolated appearance preceding recurring status, followed by regular status? Her first storyline listed here wasn't until 1964. November 2015 'retirement'

edit

Isn't it rewriting history a bit to say Derbyshire announced she would be taking retirement from the show in November 2015? What was originally announced - and not by Derbyshire herself, who is a very private woman - is that the actress would be taking a break of six months from the programme. While this would later transpire to be a retirement it is false information to say that it was known at that stage that it was the case.
