For history, is there an explanation as to how the Virginia colony spilled across the Chesapeake to take in what's now the Eastern Shore? Wikipedia also has article about Eastern Shore of Maryland, and that article cites the Calvert-Scarborough line, the land boundary between that part of Maryland and this part of Virginia.
