Ungana-Afrika "see also" addition

I want to be cautious in terms of any "see also" additions, so before going forward and making a change I though I would put a note here. I´ve recently made edits to the Ungana-Afrika article, an organisation that was built on, and still serves as a hub for, eRiding and Circuit Riding concepts. I think it is a good example of a specific entity implementing and developing the concept. Any issue to make a link in the see also section? --Ryan.jake (talk) 12:46, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

See also's are rarely an appropriate place to list an individual organization that engages in the practices described in an article. In part this is because such sections become lists that add little to the readers' understanding, or become battlefields for people's favorite examples to be listed, and in part it's because such a listing rarely provides good context (where as most more concept based see also's are to some extent obvious). Inclusion begs the question why Ungana-Afrika rather than another organization? If Ungana-Afrika is verifiably significant enough in the context of circuit riding to mention in this article (perhaps the largest organization currently in existence?) it ought to be done in the body of the article in a way that informs the reader.

Another approach would be to include a listing of orgs that engage in circuit riding by grouping them together in a category and then putting a link to the category in the see also section. This skirts the issues with starting a list, but still provides non-POV access for readers to example organizations. -- SiobhanHansa 13:18, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, very articulate, much appreciated. In terms of Circuit Riding there are (as I suppose you know) many groups, orgs, initiatives involved in the concept, however in terms of current notability (those that may have an article in Wikipedia, etc), I imagine only a few. I'll give this some thought and perhaps ask around a bit, as it may make sense to link-in (directly in the body) some examples of these notable initiatives (with notes about why they are significant/notable in this context). Also, in terms of lists, I imagine it would be more appropriate to start a list of NTAPs (as a category, and indeed include the Circuit Riders in the list)... as you mentioned earlier, this is the over-arching term.
