Uniform format proposal

edit

A proposal is being floated at the project page that there be a standard format for organising each article about national provinces of the Anglican Communion, including this one. Please consider participating in the straw vote and discussion. Cheers! Fishhead64 21:46, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Priest vs. Reverend

edit

I propose that the wording be changed slightly in this article. I'm in the diocese of South Rwenzori under Bishop Nzerebende. The priests here do not like being called by the title priest and every priest I've met (probably 100 so far) refers to him/herself as Reverend. I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing that would be cited somewhere, though I could try to find some printed evidence of this, but I work for the diocese at the behest of the Bishop and am intimately familiar with its practices. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.108.214.219 (talk) 17:17, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Name of Diocese based in Moroto

edit

Karamoja Diocese was divided in 2007 following the death of Rt Rev Peter Lomongin. I presume that the Church of Uganda has a legal process for this in which the names of new Dioceses are registered. North Karamoja seems to be clear, but the southern diocese based in Moroto, where the original Karamoja Diocese was based, is less clear. I emailed Bishop Abura about this yesterday and he informed me that the Diocese is still called "Karamoja Diocese" (no south mentioned). This would make some sense since the residents of the northern diocese do not regard themselves as Karamojongs (only related)! It also follows the previous convention, in that the original dioceses keeps its original name regardless of any confusion this may cause (cf "Diocese of Northern Uganda", which now only covers the southern part of Acholiland). In various articles on the internet I have seen "South Karamoja" "Karamoja South" and, in this article "South Karamoja (Moroto)". The anglicancommunion.org still shows one diocese after two years! I can find no website for the (Anglican) Church of Uganda. Can anyone shed any light? If ACO change their website to show these two dioceses I suggest we use the names in the same form as them. If that takes too long I will confirm further with the Diocese and make the change. Apalomita (talk) 07:33, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
