Aren’t Texans and Mexicans the same people here?

edit

In the recounting of the event, particularly in the context and prelude, the parties involved are repeatedly referred to as “Mexicans” and “Texans,” or at least, the governmental/military parties are referred to as “the Mexicans” as a way to differentiate them from the settlers/civilians. Unless I’m mistaken, all people living in this area at this time would be Mexicans, as this was still part of Mexico. So at the time, these Texans were also Mexicans.

It leads to a very US-centric reading and colors the reader’s understanding of the events pretty severely. I’m no history buff though, so maybe I missed something? 2601:152:4000:7CF0:81C4:889C:201D:4F77 (talk) 09:25, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Texan is not used at all in the article; the term used here is texian, which is what the group identified itself as, and what all of the sources use. Kuru (talk) 23:17, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Flag

edit

Shouldn’t the flag used for Texians for this battle be the “come and take it” flag? The blue flag with the star was not adopted by Texas until after the war. Friedbyrd (talk) 19:41, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Concur; it's just the wrong flag for the time period. Not clear on the come and take it version - certainly utilized in some part, but not sure if it is needed. Sam Kuru (talk) 23:21, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
