@Nihlus Kryik and Alexbarrella: A Google news search turned up this article from an Atlanta TV station. Quoting: "Long shot candidate Alex Barrella, a 30 year-old illustrator who spoke with CBS46 News about his campaign earlier this week, failed to qualify. He was going to use the pauper's waiver that allows exceptions to the qualifying fee to those who can't afford it, but he wasn't able to come up with the required two thousand signatures necessary to qualify for the pauper waiver." Since Barrella isn't otherwise notable and isn't running for another office, as is the case with Al Bartell, I see no reason to list Barrella. —C.Fred (talk) 15:50, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm just trying to update this article to represent reality sorry, I figured if I was running the wiki page should say as such. I don't trust the narrative to include me as from the beginning it has been excluding me. Is it not troubling that those with the power get beneficial treatment in the media narrative? It's the whole chicken/egg thing where you don't get accepted as mainstream until you get coverage and you don't get coverage until you're mainstream. The fact of the matter is that I am running for Mayor still, regardless of classist and ableist rules and systems in place to keep people down, I intend to win and feel like I deserve equal representation in media as a candidate, of which I am. Is the fact that Alex Barrella sank countless of his own hours and cashes towards running not noteable? Is a grassroots campaign that is taking on lots and lots of scary big powers not notable? Gee, thanks for whitewashing history then. alexbarrella (talk) 23:37, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

@Alexbarrella: The general rule of thumb is that candidates for office are not notable. Write-in candidates in a field of twelve with nine major candidates definitely fall short in that area. For that matter, many winners of office aren't notable—although whoever becomes the next mayor of Atlanta will get enough media coverage to meet the general notability guidelines.

Yes, media coverage is not perfect; there are a number of biases including more Western coverage than in other parts of the world. However, journalistic sources are the best we have right now at finding neutral sources with a good track record for fact-checking. We do not build articles based on claims advanced by the subjects.

So, forgive me being blunt, but no, it's not notable for a person who has done nothing of note other than run for office to have run a failed grassroots campaign to get on the ballot and to now be attempting to run as a write-in candidate. —C.Fred (talk) 02:12, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
