Globalize
editSomeone posted a tag that this article did not represent a global perspective. I added links to flu reports in China and Europe and put all the United States information in a dedicated section in response to this, then removed the tag. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:57, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
Flu Epidemic
editRecent news is now indicating that this flu season is now a national epidemic.[1] [2] Perhaps this page could be renamed in a similar manner to the 2009 flu pandemic (which the 2009 flu epidemic redirects to)? 98.27.229.36 (talk) 22:59, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
- It's not a pandemic; pandemic implies that it has spread across multiple countries. "Epidemic" maybe. We should probably wait on calling it a pandemic unless and until the WHO labels it a pandemic. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 23:05, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
I think we should at least call it an epidemic. There's been a lot of media coverage revolving around the severity of this particular flu season. Here's one really informative article from the Associated Press about the widespread nature of this virus strain.

Seeing as how there aren't any other articles like this one (e.g. there isn't a "2011-2012 flu season" or a "2010-2011 flu season" article), we could simply retitle this article as "2013 North American flu epidemic" or something. Blee395 (talk) 06:08, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
