Also included is the list of the Sabah and Sarawak state assembly members who were elected in 1981 and 1979 respectively. During this period, Mahathir Mohamad was sworn in as Malaysia’s Prime Minister on July 16, 1981, marking the beginning of his 22-year tenure.
