Flores appeared as a special guest for fellow jazz-inspired singer-songwriter Laufey's Everything I Know About Love debut album tour in 2022.[4] Her first headlining tour began in June 2024 as a month-long tour through the United States and the United Kingdom.[5] Her debut album tour through the United States and Europe began in September 2024.[6]

Background

edit

Flores was born in Norfolk, England to a Brazilian mother and a British father on 2 June 1999. She grew up listening to music based around her mother's Brazilian heritage, listening to bossa nova artists such as Gal Costa and Caetano Veloso. She credits her highschool boyfriend for introducing her to American folk music in her late teens. Both of these genres would later go on to inspire her own career as a singer-songwriter.[7]

In an interview with Rolling Stone Japan, Flores would reveal that she began her songwriting career at age 11 or 12 and began taking the endeavor seriously at 15/16.[8]

Career

edit

Flores released her debut EP "The Water's Fine!" in June 2018. Her second EP "Recently" followed in April 2019, with these two EPs marking the beginning of her career.

Flores first gained viral traction from her song "Rises the Moon."[9]

In 2024, Flores signed with Verve Records.[10] In May 2024, Flores announced plans to release her debut album, titled "Flower of the Soul."[11] The album was released on June 28, 2024.[12]

Influences

edit

Flores cites Vashti Bunyan[13] and Caetano Veloso[14] as influences. She also cites that her musical inspirations came generally from bossa nova and folk records from her mother's CD collection.[14]
