Different single covers

edit

@Majora, Chasewc91, 3family6, and SomeoneNamedDerek: There are two different covers being used for the song. The first showing Lipa next to two other women, with the cover featuring the names of both the single and Lipa.[1] The second, being the same as the album artwork, shows Lipa looking into the camera with only her name being displayed.[2][3][4] There are also other digital releases of the song that use the second cover, but have the single name displayed.[5][6] Which cover would be the best for the Blow Your Mind (Mwah) article? The official cover art is the cover art on iTunes: [1]. This is the cover art you can obtain from the record label, and you can also find this cover art on all music platoforms, such as Spotify: [2]. The "first" cover art as you mentioned is almost certainly fan-made for a few reasons:
1. This cover art is created/derived directly from the music video on YouTube, at time mark 1:30 -> [3]. (This image is therefore also non-free.)
2. This cover art has not been featured on any reliable sources and is not the digital cover art on any music platforms, such as iTunes, Spotify, or Pandora.
3. Genius can be edited by anyone.
For these reasons, I have reverted to the actual single cover (which is apparently the same as the album cover). If the alternate cover can be verified by a reliable source, it is fine to allow that cover as an "Alternative cover" on the infobox. (See Boom Clap's infobox for an example). —SomeoneNamedDerek (talk) 00:01, 29 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@SomeoneNamedDerek: If that is true, the fair use rationale has to be updated, the other one has to be deleted, and another FUR has to be done for the other use. Please do not just change images on a fair used file without following through on all the other necessary requirements to comply with copyright law. I'm fine with changing it back, but you have to complete the process. I can nominate the other one for deletion under G7 as soon as you finish the FUR requirements. --Majora (talk) 14:52, 29 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Oh and two copyrighted album covers would not be acceptable under our fair use policy. The only reason it is allowed on the page you mentioned is because one is below the threshold of originality. --Majora (talk) 14:54, 29 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
All fixed. If you don't understand how to properly do fair use rationales please don't. It just causes more work for the people that monitor such things. --Majora (talk) 16:41, 29 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think I'm sorry? I've always used the file upload wizard to upload cover art, so I'm just going to stick with that. Thanks for correcting my mistakes though. —SomeoneNamedDerek (talk) 16:54, 29 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
