Description
English: This painting is one of a series (now housed in the Palace Museum of Beijing) which portrays the career of the Ming-dynasty era Chinese official Xu Xianqing (徐顯卿). Xu was a native of Yixing (宜興 ; west of Lake Tai 太湖). He received his jinshi (進士) degree in 1568 and eventually became Vice-Minister of Personnel. His year of birth is unknown, although it is known that he died in 1602.
