Description
English: The German submarine U 20 grounded at 5633N 0808E at Vrist, on the Danish coast. The boat ran aground on 4th of November 1916 and was blown up by her crew the next day. On 7th May 1915 U 20 (Kptlt. Walther Schwieger in command) torpedoed the British liner RMS Lusitania which sank in 18 minutes, taking 1,201 lives with her. Deutsch: Das deutsche Unterseeboot U 20 lief am 5. November 1916 vor der dänischen Küste auf Grund und wurde am nächsten Tag von der Mannschaft gesprengt. Am 7. Mai 1915 hatte es unter Kapitänleutnant Walther Schwieger das britische Passagierschiff RMS Lusitania torpediert, das innerhalb von 18 Minuten sank und 1,201 Menschenleben mit sich nahm.
