DescriptionType of German prisoners captured in the new push (4688031177).jpg
English: Portrait of a German prisoner. He is wearing a cloth over his head and a jacket with '102' on the left epaulette. The closeness of the subject forces one to look closely at his face and into his eyes.
Whilst many of the images were deliberately taken as propaganda, some, like this, provide us with a more honest account of war and the people involved. Despite the biased caption, this very real and striking portrait refuses to demonise the enemy.
[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE WESTERN FRONT. Type of German prisoners captured in the new push.']
