English: Venus Crushing Works at Charters Towers, ca. 1935.

Venus Battery opened 1872 and closed 1972. Script at back of photograph reads: E. J. Lawn, Mines Inspector Mr J. Douglas.' (Description supplied with photograph.).

The car in the photograph is a 1935 Ford V8 roadster, powered by an 85hp. 'flathead' V8 engine. The car is set up with a large luggage compartment, rather than having a 'dickey seat' in the rear compartment as was popular with many private owners.
