English: St. Mary's Church, Whittall Street, was built in 1774, under an Act of 1772, as a chapel of ease of St. Martins. The cost of the building which was designed by Joseph Pickford was raised by subscription and the tower and spire were subsequently rebuilt in 1866.
A parish was assigned to St. Mary's in 1841 out of St. Martin's. The living had the status of a perpetual curacy in the patronage of trustees until 1868 when it became a vicarage. Under an Act of 1925 the church was closed pending demolition.
