English: Sinotyrannus is a large basal tyrannosauroid dinosaur from what is now China. It was much larger than contemporary tyrannosauroids, apparently disproving the general theory that tyrannosauroids gradually increased in size throughout the Cretaceous period from small basal forms to advanced apex predators. In fact, Sinotyrannus is nearly the size of Tyrannosaurus rex, reaching a total estimated length of up to 10 m, and weighing around 2.5 t.
