DescriptionShoeburyness, Pig's Bay MOD railway scrapyard - geograph.org.uk - 915432.jpg
English: Shoeburyness: Pig's Bay MOD railway scrapyard The extensive railway system of the MOD at Shoeburyness has long been used to store withdrawn railway rolling stock prior to scrapping. On view here are six coaches of a former Gatwick Express train while just visible on the left is the end coach of a former London Underground Northern Line train. From information gleaned elsewhere on the internet I understand that this rolling stock is periodically despatched to Newport in South Wales for the actual scrapping process. I think these sidings are the same ones that Glyn photographed in his 66789 which would mean that there has been some train movement since October 2005!
