American Collier patent flintlock five shot revolver, circa 1818 Made in England under Colliers patent 1818Collier’s flintlock revolver, patented in 1818, was the first step in direction of modern revolver. Collier was an American gunsmith from Boston who developed a practical flintlock revolving pistol in 1810. He was granted a Royal Patent, and worked in London, 45 The Strand, until 1852 when he returned to Boston. He died in 1863. This weapon was also referred to as "Highland Tag" (See "Small Arms of the world" Smith)
