English: A Royal Air Force C17 Globemaster transport aircraft is pictured at Evreux Airbase near Paris, France before embarking French equipment and troops to deploy to Mali, Africa.Following the Prime Minister’s announcement that the UK will provide logistical military assistance in support of French military operations in Mali, a second Royal Air Force C-17 strategic transport aircraft arrived in France.At Evreux Airbase near Paris the aircraft were loaded with armoured vehicles and other military equipment for transport to the Malian capital Bamako. French forces are assisting the Malian Government to contain rebel and extremist groups in the North of the country.Two RAF C17 aircraft flew from Brize Norton to French Air Base Evreux approximately 100km west of Paris to load equipment prior to departing for Bamako, Mali on Operation Newcombe. |
