Français : Port-Christmas (île Kerguelen) le 2 janvier 1893. L'aviso-transport française l'Eure commandée par le capitaine de frégate Lieutard et la goélette américaine Francis Allyn de John Fuller sont présents dans la baie de l'Oiseau pour la levée des couleurs lors du renouvellement de la prise de possession solennelle de l'archipel par la France. L'arche des Kerguelen est visible au fond de la baie.
