DescriptionPituophis catenifer sayi - gravel forest road in Cheney, WA.jpg
English: I took this photo on a gravel road in a ponderosa pine and aspen forest near some wetlands near the town of Cheney, Washington. The snake here was basking in the road, on a warm sunny day in early June. Shortly after I took this photograph, he became irritated and began shaking his tail and making his characteristic rattling hiss as he retreated into a pile of scree nearby.
