English: Page from A curious herbal by Elizabeth Blackwell (circa 1700-1758) and printed for Samuel Harding, 1737-1739. This herbal was one of the earliest botanical books to be produced by a woman and contains 500 illustrations of medicinal plants and herbs. It was an instant success in the 1730s, and became an invaluable resource for doctors and apothecaries.
