Description

Norsk nynorsk: Våpen for Moss kommune i Østfold fylke, godkjent ved kongeleg resolusjon 2. april 1954.
Motiv: En gull kråke på rød bunn.[1] Moss fekk sitt første bysegl i 1786. Dette var ei kyrkje med skyer over på eit ovalt skjold. I 1820-åra kom ein ny versjon av seglet, med seks flygande fuglar rundt kyrkjetårnet. I 1930-åra begynte arbeidet med eit byvåpen. Der ville ein bruke nokre av elementa som var på det forne byseglet. Fuglane vart rekna for å vera duer, noko som ikkje var særleg populært. Chr. Stenersen kom med innfallet om kråker sidan innbyggjarane i Moss lenge hadde hatt oppnamnet «mossekråker».
