Vintage Plastic Model of IBM 727 Tape Drive
This is a (heavy) painted plastic model of an early IBM tape drive, probably the w:IBM 727, used on the IBM 704 and IBM 705 vacuum tube computers, in the mid to late 1950s. This model was found in a credenza around 1960 or shortly thereafter, in an office at 1000 Westchester Ave, or 112 East Post Road, White Plains NY. This model might have been part of a minature computer system typically displayed in windows or at exhibits back in the 1950s, perhaps at 590 Madison Ave., in New York City.
The model is over 1 foot tall.
Taken with a Canon T2i/550D and Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens at f/8. 33 1/12-second exposures at ISO100 in a focus stack (DoF stack) were combined with Zerene Stacker in DMAP mode. The exposures were spaced by pressing the ">" button on the EOS utility live-view screen.
