Description
English: No Man's Land may well be a depiction of the Douai plain below Vimy Ridge in France, a subject that inspired Cullen. The vast featureless countryside is cloaked in darkness, emphasizing the inhospitable and forbidding terrain where many Canadian soldiers fought during the four years of the First World War. Cullen completed this work in 1920 in Montréal.
