Could you please forward this to the copyright holder, or direct me to the appropriate person? To the copyright holder of the image labelled " POSTED 6/26/05: Sergio collaborator and host of the legendary Quick On The Draw! show, Mark Evanier." http://www.ncs-glc.com/GLC/reubens_2005/reubens_2005_2.html , with a file name of "evanier.gif" at the URL http://www.ncs-glc.com/GLC/reubens_2005/evanier.gif I am an editor of Wikipedia (http://wiki.x.io ), a multilingual project to create a complete, accurate, and open-content encyclopedia. Volunteers from around the world collaboratively edit Wikipedia, which is one of many projects of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation (http://wikimediafoundation.org ). We depend on photography to clearly illustrate our articles. Your photograph, with the file name "evanier.gif" appearing at http://www.ncs-glc.com/GLC/reubens_2005/evanier.gif and portraying writing Mark Evanier looks like it would be an excellent illustration for the Wikipedia article about Mark Evanier (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Mark_Evanier ). Would you be so kind as to allow Wikipedia to reuse your image? We can only use your material if you are willing to grant permission for it to be used under terms of a suitably free license. The two most convenient would be the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license*, or the GNU Free Documentation License* (GFDL). This means that although you retain the copyright and authorship of your own work, you are granting permission for others to use, copy, and share your materials freely, and even potentially use them commercially, so long as they do not try to claim the copyright themselves, or try to prevent others from using or copying them freely (e.g., "share-alike"). Please do note that your contributions may not remain intact as submitted; these licenses, as well as the collaborative nature of our project, also entitles others to edit, alter, and update them at will, i.e., to keep up with new information, or suit the text to a different purpose. If you're worried about such things, the GFDL expressly protects creators "from being considered responsible for modifications made by others." * The Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license is summarized here: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/ while the full details are here http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/legalcode) A copy of the GNU Free Documentation License is here: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_the_GNU_Free_Documentation_License If you do agree to grant permission for use, we will credit you, state the image was based on your work and is used with your permission, and provide a link back to your website. Just let me know how you would like to be credited, and if a link different than http://www.ncs-glc.com/GLC/reubens_2005/reubens_2005_2.html would be appropriate. I'll upload a full copy of my request and your response along with the image as evidence of your permission. If you have any questions about the process, what rights you would be granting, or anything related, please let me know and I'll answer to the best of my ability. I hope you will consider accepting our request. Thank you for your time, Alan De Smet -- Alan De Smet Personal website address removed

I am the photographer and copyright holder. I have attached a high-res version of the photo, which is the version I prefer you work with. Feel free to crop and resize as you see fit. (This version contains some minimal retouching -- Namely, I have repositioned Mark's name tag, which was crooked in the original photo.) The photo should be credited to Craig Boldman. I am the photographer and copyright holder. Thank you very much. Unfortunately I may have been a bit confusing; I was offering two possible licenses. Are you saying that you're willing to license the photo of Mark Evanier you attached ("evanier_boldman.jpg") under both the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license _and_ the GNU Free Documentation License? That's fine, it means that people can pick either license when they reuse your photograph, but I do want to be very clear that that is your intention. -- Alan De Smet Personal website address removed To: email address removed Subject: Re: Licensing photo of Evanier from "Reuben Scrapbook 2005" Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2007 21:11:20 -0400 From: email address removed Hi Alan, Apologies; I'm afraid was sloppy at addressing this matter in haste before I left town. I'll opt to offer the Evanier photo for license under the creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 licence. best, Craig Craig Boldman phone number removed http://www.ncs-glc.com -----Original Message----- Original message (visible above) removed ________________________________________________________________________ Check Out the new free AIM(R) Mail -- 2 GB of storage and industry-leading spam and email virus protection.
