DescriptionLondon Bridge, Lake Havasu City (6630236349).jpg
Lake Havasu City, on the Colorado River in northwestern Arizona, is a haven for water sports and leisure year round. It was developed from the 1960s on.
Its key claim to fame is the London Bridge - a real one. This particular London Bridge was built in 1831, replacing a series of historic spans on the same spot on the River Thames in London. In 1968, Lake Havasu City purchased the bridge from London, and it took three years to move and re-erect the bridge here, connecting the main part of the town to an island of vacation homes.
Meanwhile London erected a rather nondescript bridge to replace this one, and that is the London Bridge seen in London today.
