English: maleLibellula croceipennis (Neon skimmer) dragonfly - This adult emerged about one day previously. The exoskeleton (exuvia) the dragonfly emerged from can be seen at the top of the image. The dragonfly was previously identified as a female based on the colors, however the bright red color that is characteristic of the male is not present when it first emerges. This one is identified as a male based on the presence of claspers at the end of the dragonfly's body.
