Description
English: Kimono for a Young Woman (Furisode). From the Khalili Collection of Kimono. Depicts a boat on swirling water, with pine tree, plum blossoms and maples. This item illustrates the combination of the bright colours characteristic of 20th century kimono, and the depictions of nature that are more typical of traditional designs. The decoration is made with artificial dye, embroidered with silk, silver and gold. This item is part of the Victoria and Albert Museum's "Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk" exhibition running from 29 February 2020 to 21 June 2020
